Did anyone ever solve the question as to whether the battery in the hybrids is an AGM type or other? I seem to remember reading differing thoughts here. Flooded? AGM?

Are you talking about the high-voltage battery for the hybrid system? It's a NiHM.battery in the hybrids is an AGM type or other?
No sorry the 12V.Are you talking about the high-voltage battery for the hybrid system? It's a NiHM.
Ok thanks. I've got a new battery maintainer coming and it has different modes (wet cell, agm and lithium). Just trying to figure out which one is the right one.I’m pretty sure the consensus is that it’s not AGM but I haven’t learned much about batteries yet, I’m just happy my truck started after sitting for a week and a half

Pb means lead. On the left it says Sulfuric acid.I’m pretty sure the consensus is that it’s not AGM but I haven’t learned much about batteries yet, I’m just happy my truck started after sitting for a week and a half

Sounds good!Pb means lead. On the left is says Sulfuric acid.
Ergo you are correct this is the Standard Lead acid battery not AGM
That must be it. And not even the Toyota dealership seems to understand it!The battery does hover a bit low from normal gas models. Something to do with needing to keep a buffer and that it tends to run off the hybrid battery most of the time via the inverter.
I am not saying I understand it, I’m just saying what I’ve found/seen.
That is low. If you're getting the voltage from the maintainer, try it with a multimeter.Said it was 12.2v.
Be interesting to see what a new battery would do.My 12V is always at 12.2 volts or below. That seems to be pretty normal for the hybrids, but I don't understand why it won't eventually kill the battery keeping it at suck a low state of charge.
Yep. My truck will be going to the dealer in a few weeks for service and I will see what they will do.Be interesting to see what a new battery would do.
Interesting. I’ll keep the Optima in mind. Let us know what happens.Yep. My truck will be going to the dealer in a few weeks for service and I will see what they will do.
Whenever I replace the battery I will put in a yellow top Optima AGM, but hopefully they will replace this one. If it only keeps it charged to 12.2 volts I don't expect a regular battery to last very long.
