Got my '25 SR5, 4 door 4WD 5 ft bed, new in Apri, @ ~8000 miles now. Per Fuelly app, averaging 26.3 mpg so far; last 3 fill ups were 28 mpg each. Even 10 days straight of stop & go in July I still got 21 mpg.

Running everything stock, came with factory Predator step rails, air dam still in place, added tonneau cover and mud flaps @ 2 weeks old.

MT tires definitely tear up mileage. But I'd also look at the tire size difference. Look up the actual outside diameter of the stock tires vs the MTs, then multiply your mileage by that ratio.

The MT tires are likely closer to true size, where the SR5 "31s" are probably more like 30.5.

First is wondering if you are truly at break in 3000-5000 miles. There are lots of threads and posts here and another Tacoma forum where some details might be insightful, but in general people are in or can beat the EPA ratings with reasonable driving, and high speed kills the efficiency just like short urban trips and not being a smooth driver.

The bigger wheels and tires combo a TRD OR comes with don't stop it from achieving the EPA ratings.
I would disagree with the ā€˜ in general’ comment about EPA or close to EPA. Most everyone I’ve seen post with an HV ( OffRoad/ Pro/ TH) all get much less MOG than EPA. TH comes with Sliders, much bigger wheels and not standard street tires along with armor underneath. If that was going to effect MPG, should have been reflected in EPA rating.

I did not intend or consider outliers such as a limited edition version knowing your points. Looking through past threads I still see a lot of people with the big sellers _and_ driving comparable to the EPA test are close.

I wanted to make sure and just refreshed my memory. The special or limited edition versions are outside of the "certification family". Your Trailhunter or Pro model share what creates the certification family but have their exceptions such as the bigger wheels, and sliders.

hi,
are any of you experiencing poor mpg?

l am around 14-15mpg… l haven’t done any mods that l would think increases my consumption… upgraded to MT 265 coming from the HW 245 that the truck comes with…
and also added running boards that weight maybe 15kg each side

i am really not pushing or driving hard and l can’t seem to increase it

Love this truck and couldn't care less about mpg. I wish I was 17-18 but that's Life.

I live in Austin in a fairly hilly area. With my 24 TRD OR in a fully stock configuration - I was getting ~17MPG with mostly city driving. Also, living in Texas, I will say that my highway MPG's are not much different, but that's likely because I'm doing 75-80 at a minimum.

I did change to 285/70/17 Maxxis Razr AT's, and lo-and-behold, my MPG's really haven't changed.

If I really baby the throttle and keep it under 65 on the interstate, I can get 20+, but I've never seen anything like 23.
