I got my truck tuned by CamTuning. Very pleased with the results. He is great to work with. Professional and really wants the customer to be satisfied, which I am. He had to contend with my 35 inch Mickey Thompson tires, but he already had a custom tune from a previous customer and the results are great. You can really feel the difference in traffic, a lot more confidence now that I can get the truck wherever I want to get it to. Also, my truck will now shift into 8th gear. I had to be going downhill for it to do that before I tuned it and had the big tires. Any one with big tires knows how impactful those big tires are on performance and feel. The truck feels way less burdened by those tires. Cam is the best, super impressed and recommend highly. Thanks Cam.

The Cobb Accessport came in today. I installed the Stage 1 tune for 93 octane fuel. While not ideal, I need to burn off about half a tank and I'll add 93 gas in it tomorrow. In spite of the gas not being perfectly matched, the response is very noticeable while the shifting is smooth smooth smooth. I'm really digging the throttle response, my lead foot appreciates it. I'll be reaching out to Cam in the following weeks to do a custom tune for my TurdPro Taco. I'll probably be shooting for a max power setup and a balanced one for everyday driving. The Cobb AccessPORT is a pretty rad little unit and the 15% military discount was very generous. Cool piece of gear yall!

It's great that you are running the OTS map first. It's a noticeable gain over stock. Cobb did a great job. The next step with custom tuning is going to be even bigger than the one you just took!

On warranty: nothing can void your warranty, but anything (tune, intake, tires, whatever) can be used to deny a specific claim if they think it caused the issue.
Most manufacturers can deny warranty on anything from the front of the engine through the driveline to the outer wheel bearings if one has tuned it for more power. And that usually includes ECUs etc on the electrical side. Once the manufacturer sees an unsanctioned download then bye bye warranty claims for driveline and related components. Audi is a good example.

This really comes down to platform differences and what the manufacturer can actually see.

I’m not the final authority on warranty decisions, and anyone considering tuning should go in with eyes open. What I can share is firsthand experience: in Toyota’s case, a service manager whose truck I tuned confirmed that once the Accessport is unmarried and the ECU is returned to stock, their factory software does not show a prior tune history.

That’s not true across the board—Audi/VW are a good counterexample, as they log flash data and software signatures. If a manufacturer can see an unsanctioned calibration, warranty outcomes are usually straightforward.

Bottom line: understand the risks, understand the platform, and make an informed choice.

Tune it and hope that they don't look into the ECU? Not sure I am ready for that. I'll be ready when my Taco is out of warranty.

Dealership will also know if you flash back to stock because the key-turn (ie start) count will be way too low for the mileage of the vehicle.

With modern vehicles like our truck they use a checksum to compare the your ECU software against stock.

Checksum for ECU comparison is also how SMOG finds flashed cars.

This would be a no question add on for my first gen Taco when I had it. Way less tech than the current 4th Gen.
