Good evening everyone!

Here at Big Dawgs Toyota Tuning we’ve been working on something big that’s almost finished up in production and will be headed to the dyno shortly after that.

Pictured below is an aftermarket throttle body elbow designed by us here at Big Dawgs Toyota Tuning. We’ve increased the diameter on each end by a fair amount, and will have it produced in aluminum.

More to follow on exact specs when we get it in hand. We do know it’s guaranteed fitment based off of singular test piece we had printed.

We’re expecting it to he ready for testing in early June.

Im working that out currently with our manufacturer based off of bulk orders and engraving.

Obviously will depend on how much we’re able to gain from it to make sure the juice is worth the squeeze.

Quick update here: we got our initial test run pieces in. They were a fail. The O ring divot wasn’t big enough & there was no divot for the O ring tail. Also came unmatched. We’re going to rework the CAD on sizing, then look at a new supplier for the time being. We’ll probably look at moving to have them cast instead of printed.

Just for a quick update on this - we got a few revisions done. Going to finalize some slight tweaks, then we'll have a tester printed. Once we verify it fits, we will move on to work on production.

Is it cast aluminum or steel or something else?

Has there been consideration as to the fatigue life of the part as it is repeatedly being subject to high pressure air, temperature variation, dynamic loading from the engine movement, throttle body closure pressure spikes, etc.? For instance, we know aluminum fails in fatigue eventually even at pretty small stresses since there is no real fatigue limit. If it is cast this introduces an arguably much worse grain structure that should make it fail sooner due to fatigue. Are there any FEA or some type of analysis results that prove to us this part won't fail anytime soon? And, if it would fail, what we can expect as a typical failure point?

How about the o-ring seal, has there been consideration as to how the part will warp or deform over time due to the stress it will be under and how to ensure the gasket stays sealed?

I ask because the factory part is plastic, right? There's gotta be good reason Toyota did that other than cost and repeatable fabrication. We haven't seen any throttle body failures yet as far as I know, so why move to a cast metal part rather than a more open, better flowing injection molded plastic design? Also, was there any thought as to why Toyota restricted the inlet size in the first place and if it is safe to increase the size of it without other supporting mods?

So for the uniformed, how will this help the engine? More HP? If so how much?
