I’ve seen a lot of conflicting information about whether 285/75R17s fit on a stock 4th gen Tacoma, so I figured I’d share my experience in case it helps someone else.
I have a 2024 Tacoma TRD Off Road with the stock suspension and stock TRD wheels. I installed Toyo Open Country A/T III 285/75R17s, and I have zero rubbing. Based on what I’d read from other owners, including some running wheels with slightly different offsets than stock, I wasn’t expecting any issues, and that ended up being the case.
I did order the ARK crash bracket delete kit since it was only about $50. I don’t think I’ll end up needing it, but I figured it was cheap insurance to have a little extra clearance at full lock.
For the spare, I went with a 255/80R17. It’s about an inch narrower than the 285s and only about 1.5% smaller in diameter, so it seemed like a good compromise. It fits the factory spare location better while still being close enough in size to work as a nearly full size spare if I ever need it on the trail.
Hopefully this helps clear up some of the mixed information that’s out there.
