I’m patiently waiting on my Alpharex alpha black headlights and taillights delivery. Question regarding the fuebox tap. Is this necessary for the DRL to turn on? What is the purpose of the fuse box tap? Thanks.

It's not necessary for the drl to turn on.

However, leveraging the drl harness gains the following.

1. They will be allot brighter for daytime use, until you turn on the running lights or low beams, in which they dim down. Without the harness they always will be dim all the time.

2. You'll gain the dynamic animation on lock/unlock with the harness.

And also not Necessary for bottom drl light bar to illuminate? In your photos those bottom drl light bar isn’t illuminated?

No. That depends on what controller board revision you receive. The originally marketed lights had the bottom led strip as apart of the drl. Initial pre order adopters got that.

Then manufacturing changed the design on the board and it was only sequential with the turn signal.

Not sure if Alpharex corrected all that for future production or what. But there were batches out there with and without the bottom strip as drl.

Hmm that seems like some BS thing to do. I hope the latest batches have them because I love seen some post on IG that recently got them and installed had the light bar on.

FWIW I purchased mine on 10/15/25 and had it installed by them at their location in Irwindale.

I initially selected Amber drl and was told by the sales specialist on site if I selected white the bottom bar does not light up as there are no white leds in there. After a few days I swapped to white drl myself and guess what, the guy was wrong as the bottom bar lights up white together with the surrounding leds. I was actually hoping he was right and the bottom bar wouldn’t light up with white drl.

Also, on mine if I pull the fuse for the tap I do not get DRL or any start up animation. I assume mine is the current version as he was positive when he told me there were no white LEDs in the bottom bar and they were working on adding them. They must have added it without updating their sales guys.

Yea, they're a little bit of a mess for a company as a whole. Focus too much on being first to market IMO.

Anyway, although I wasn't a influencer or special ambassador receipiment to of gotten the early batches. I got mine right when they went live for order on their site. I received the board where manufacturing apparently changed the design on them and stopped lighting up the button LED strip.

I basically said ill be returning them since its not what was advertised and what i received. They sent me new boards to replace them with the bottom lit up. As you can see here revision 1.2 vs 1.3.1

The DRL harness\module really only provides two things. A brighter DRL which then dims down when parking\running\low beams are on. And you gain lock\unlock animation. Youll still have them animate when the truck starts without the DRL harness however.
