I was just curious if anyone has jumped into some part of a build then immediately (or not so immediately) regretted it or wished they went a different route. For me, I think mine is the Bakflip MX4. I will say it's a pretty good tonneau cover but knowing how I use the truck, I think I would either prefer a decked system or maybe even a retractable tonneau cover.
I ordered a BakFlip and actually cancelled it this weekend. I've had Decked systems in my last two trucks. I decided that I used it so much, I'd regret not having it on this one. So I'm saving my pennies and waiting for discount codes.

Installed 18” Tundra TRD Pro wheels in 18” vs the 17” I had before. The limited tire options on C and SL load for 18” tires is a real pain in the ass and very limited. Should have stayed with a 17” wheel.

For what it's worth, if you're ever off-road, 17" are also slightly better as there is more rubber between you and the ground so it's less likely to scratch the rim. Hopefully you can get back into a 17 at some point.

More minor but:

Pre-buying a few accessories before driving the truck for a bit. Now I have the suite of musology inserts and door/console cups sitting in a box going unused. ~$50 waste

I have two Roll-n-Lock cargo dividers sitting boxed and unused bc I didn't realize they'd totally remove the ability to use the OEM tie down rails. ~$250ea, so $500

Wasted a bunch of time and money buying a bumper part and trusting the internet on the part# and not confirming with a part dept so have a random front bumper partially painted and of no use to me (also thinking I could paint and clear coat a part on my own vs just paying a shop the first time round). It was the early days so a lot of information known now on these forums wasn't known or easy to find then. ~$200 waste

Ordering the heritage grille camera unit before realizing that it was impossible to get a tactrix 2 cable anymore (only then investing the time and tape to fix my camera system that the dealership screwed up). ~$150 waste

De-chroming the front of the truck has been more involved than I would have liked. While I wasn't a fan of the look, I wonder if I would have gotten used to it after changing the wheels, mirror backs, and tailgate letters and could have called it a day. But the parts investment was already made.
This last one, I'm sure I'll really like end product. But the time, research, effort, and duration (and cost) have made it really annoying. Will be ~$1400 when all done (TH grille, DD light bar, rave brackets, wiring, dash switch, DD fogs, color matched upper bumper +sensor mounts, PPF for painted upper bumper)

I totally get the pre-buying bug too. I've learned to force myself to triple check things fit before ordering. I feel this ha!
