My '24 is a 4X4 with leaf springs. Does anyone else have this rare combination, and if so have you found any aftermarket rear shocks that work with it? Everything I can find is either for 4X4 with coils, or RWD with leafs...nothing supports 4X4 with leafs that I can find. AI is worthless on this topic, as it changes its mind every time I ask it. Sometimes it'll tell me Bilstein 5100's will bolt on and work just fine, but then the next time it'll say even though they'll bolt on, they're unsafe to use. It will literally argue with itself about it.

I dont care about voiding a warranty, I just want something better than the junk oem shocks.

I wouldn't necessarily call it unique. All SRs have leaf springs regardless of cab configuration and all extended cabs have leaf springs regardless of trim.

Leafs are the same… 4x2 or 4x4.
I understand. But you're completely missing the point...almost all 4th Gen Tacomas with leafs are 4X2. Mine is 4X4. All aftermarket shocks say they will only work with 4X2's with leafs, and 4x4s with coils. None are listed to work with 4X4s with leafs, which is what I have.

Cross referencing parts between a SR 2wd and SR 4x4 they share the same rear suspension (e.g. shocks, leaf packs, and rear axle housing) Any shock that is listed for a 2wd will fit your 4x4.

For the front, your SR 4x4 has the same shocks and components as the SR5 4x4 except for the springs. Any shock that fits the SR5 and utilizes the oem spring will fit your SR.

I’m on board with this post! 2025 SR 4x4 double-cab here and also wanted to try different shocks to reduce rear-end ā€˜bounce’ with uneven terrain at certain speeds.
