Nice. You can't have too much power! I have two Renogy 100 watt panels and they work great but I'd love to have more...

2. On the swing out is a stop plate. It's engineered to hold the swing-outs perpendicular to the side of the truck (i.e. out in traffic). That would not work for me. My solution was to drill a second hole where I wanted the swing-out. This way it sat parallel to the side of the truck along the tailgate, which is what you see in the pictures.

5. The swing-outs blocked the rear camera. I bought a second camera and tailgate harness, teased out the camera wires and remounted it to the license plate location on the bumper.

6. This was the largest issue. There is a top plate that ties the bumper together. NONE of the frame bolt holes lined up. I had to drill out the bumper to get the silly thing installed. I did see another individual also installed their bumper, and he didn't mention this issue so hopefully my bumper was a one-off.
2. This is something I did on my Taco as well. I like the dual position; some people don't want to fuss with holding the pin up to get fully open, but I don't mind.

5. Cool idea with the camera. How do you like the placement? Any issues with any of the driver assistance features? I'm still running the prototype relocation to the carrier on my truck. Extending the stock camera cable is fussy.

6. I will make sure the engineering team knows. We've sold quite a few, and this is the first I've heard of this. Hopefully, it was a one-off. Sorry for the hassle!

If we can help with anything else, let me know.

When I teased out the wires there was a green wire and a red wire I didn't use because it tied into the main tailgate wiring. The rest of the camera wiring was unique to the camera plug. I believe those two wires allowed for the guide lines backing up. So, I don't have the lines, just a camera view.

The only way to keep them would be too dive into the tailgate and remove the camera and tease the factory harness.

I'm not Pappy but here's my post (and a good thread) on how I wired the third brake light for my Lone Peak camper, including links to what I purchased.

My first reaction is to get the trailer adapter from Dirtbox. Unfortunately, with my Victory4x4 bumper I couldn't use it.

If I had to do it all over again I would try something else. My suggestion is to pop out the taillight and look for a passage into the bedside. I wish I had tried to install a gland through the plastic.

Instead, I drilled into the metal next to the taillight, installed a gland, then ran a wire tap to the brake light wire. If I remember correctly, I did relay it, even though it was probably not necessary. The metal there is double wall and a pain to get through.

If I remember correctly, the wires for the running lights are also ran through that hole.

Another note. These trucks are wired different than old school. The turn signal and brake are on the same "bulb." I would need to double check, but the third brake light flashes when I hit the left turn switch. I don't have a solution for that.

I know one idea was to run the wire from the third brake light on the back of the cab.

I've been reading because everything is LED/Computer based it only sends the signal needed. Why I reached out to be honest. I only have the marker and ground connected to a 4 prong tailer wire for now. Everything is lit, just no brake light when engaged.

Thanks!

This product fixes that. Just tape off the turn signal outputs and use the brake output only. It works!

Ordered,

Can I hide this behind the tail lamp or do I need to continue using the 4 pin from the trailer harness?
I would encourage you to go back and read through this thread (post 16 is where we start talking about the third brake light). It should answer most of your questions.

TLDR version, if you don't already have it you should also get something like this, which allows you to wire in the Curt adapter without cutting any of the truck wiring. That said, you may not need that if you already have four pin wiring behind the bumper. If you're already using the four pin wiring for another purpose then you can get a splitter like this. Either way, cut the four way off and splice the Curt adapter into the wiring.

Regardless of how you do it you do not need to get into the tail lights at all. I've got all this stuff zip tied up behind the bumper and then just ran a two wire lead from the Curt adapter up into my camper.
