Does your 2.4 make this rattling/knocking sound?

Have

a 24 TRD Off Road, I’ve recently heard a tapping/rattling sound on acceleration. It does not always occur, but it is frequent. Not a great sound coming from under the hood. Any thoughts?

Given that it occurs on acceleration, that implies a turbo related malfunction...this is the first I have heard this sort of sound. Good luck...

I read the thread title and thought “oh, just the DI on acceleration.”

Nope. No sir, not normal. Let someone higher paid than some forum-goers diagnose that.

Definitely agree not normal but does not sound engine to me. Deceleration could be engine moving to driver side (normal) and exhaust or cover rattling or something like that. But hard to tell with that sound recording
