Huh, I don’t know. I know my cord was under all the accessories that came with the box, and I just decided to pull everything from the box before I cut up my Dongar harness. I tried the long one you’re talking about and it didn’t work for me, YMMV.
I found an unboxing video that shows a shorter USB data cable that came in a smaller bag. Are you talking about this cable?

That is the very cable. That and my USB A-C adapter has kicked on parking mode for me.

Wow I can't believe someone finally figured this out... I ended up cutting up the dome light connector from the Dongar pro plus a hardwire kit.... but I still have my rearveiw mirror one hooked up I'm gonna try this tonight

I can get Dongar Pro in T mode with the Viofo A229 Pro into parking mode like this:

Dongar Pro <-> USB-C to USB-A Adapter <-> Original Viofo USB Cable <-> Viofo A229

After 2-3 minutes of not moving, the Viofo will automatically enter parking mode.

Upon inspecting the original Viofo cable, it appears the D+ and D- lines are shorted. This is sometimes known as a USB charging cable (as opposed to data cable). However, the short USB-C to USB-C cable shipped by Dongar does not have those lines shorted which is why I believe your Viofo does not enter parking mode.

Viofo mentions the importance of the original cable here:

In case you want/need to test parking mode at home, you can use our original car charge cable or the short data cable and wait for 5 minutes quietly as per the below video.

https://support.viofo.com/support/s...se-an-external-battery-pack-for-parking-mode-

So, I have been looking into getting or making a short USB-C to USB-C "charging only" cable with the D+ and D- lines shorted. I believe this will allow the Viofo camera to automatically trigger parking mode. However, I have read that some people have issues getting the camera out of parking mode without shutting the camera down. I haven't investigated this issue yet.
Holy hell I can't believe this works. Great work on finding this solution. I got a generic Anker USB-C to USB-A adapter and used the short cable that came with the Viofo and it finally was able to activate parking mode.

I think this is something @Dongar can easily implement with a custom cable.

I’m still having trouble getting the parking mode to activate consistently. It worked once or twice but now parking mode still isn’t activating. The dash cam is still recording continuously in regular mode instead of going into parking mode and only recording with there’s motion as I set it. Are you getting parking mode to work every time?

Every time I’ve checked it, yes. It takes anywhere from 5-10 min to kick in, but it does kick in. What are your parking settings? I have mine to start after 90sec, and auto-event recording.

I have it in auto-event detection, no parking timer, no delay. Event sensitive is medium, G-force sensitivity is medium.

I also have the option to turn off the recording led (just leaving the power led) so that I can tell when it’s in parking mode.

I’ve sat in the car for over 10-15 minutes checking it but it never kicks into parking mode. I’ve tried changing it to Timelapse (10fps) and low bit rate, still won’t activate.

I’m not sure why because it worked for the first couple of days and now it won’t.

The only difference in our settings, is that I have it set to start a timer 90sec after ignition off.

I wonder if it’s your A->C adapter. Is it data or just generic?

It’s an Anker for data. But it worked initially so I don’t know why it stopped working.

Do they even make an adapter that’s power only?

Have you opened the door and closed is so everything shuts off like the instrument cluster?

Yea, I opened the door and closed it to mimic me leaving the car. And again while I’m actually outside the locked car. Neither time worked.

K, going to sound like a stupid question, sorry.
Is your dongar adapter switch in the middle position? When you go from truck running (red) to off (green), does it do that? Because if it’s not, there’s no point in trying other stuff.
