Has anyone bought the OEM softex seat covers from Toyota parts and put them on?

Have an offroad without premium package, but am trying to keep the vehicle OEM+.

Looking to replace my black/grey with the black softex. Searched and googled, but can't find anyone who has done this yet.

I imagine I can buy all the pieces of Toyota parts and just DIY, yeah? It will be painful, but possible?

Interesting query. I had to get the cloth Off Road seats as the softex is not offered in the 6’ OR. I even prefer the all black SR5 seats. The grey stains easy. Staying tuned….

I haven't compared the seats closely - how confident are you that the foam padding is shaped the same?

Sorry guys, to be very specific, not looking for katzskin leather installs. I'm looking for OEM softex installs.

Good point, and something I'll need to go look into. I don't think the premium package that gives you the softex changes the foam size/shape, but I'll double check before venturing further.

I know you said you aren’t looking for Katzkins, but I just wanted to share my recent experience.

Bought a 25 Sport Premium (w Softex) last year. Absolutely love it. Nothing wrong with Softex at all, and the ventilation is nice. First time experiencing it.

My partner just purchased a 26 RAV4 PHEV. She decided to skip out on Premium/Softex and opted for dealer installed Katzkins. They are absolutely beautiful! The quality is much higher than softex (obviously when dealing with genuine vs synthetic leather), and the cost was actually less. If I were to repurchase my truck, I would go this route.

Katzkins offers actual leather options, not just synthetics? Hmm. Thanks for confirming that. I’ll see brands say “leather seat covers” only to read the fine print to reveal it’s synthetic. Wonder how the install at home is for the genuine vs synthetic kits.

I put Katzkins in my car several years ago to replace the cloth seats. I specified the colors, ventilation, and which panels were leather (can get close to 100%, which I chose). The cost was reasonable and the quality is excellent. We have 9 years and 70k miles on them and no evidence of wear. I would absolutely put Katzkins in my Tacoma if I didn't have the Softex.

As far as I know, Katzkins is the real deal. Premium quality top of the line and highly customizable for heating and ventilation, as well as many colors and patterns for stitching and piping. The dealer had a booklet with swatches that we used for the RAV4. Ended up with walnut leather and black piping, it looks incredible.

I love my premium softex, but if I was to build a car from the ground up, I’d definitely go the other route.

Can’t help but feel we got away from my original question, haha! I know people love katzskins, and I’m grateful for the replies, but still looking to see if anyone has bought and put on Tacoma Softex seat covers!

Call your dealership? They should be able to order them for you and install them.
