I generally get about 16 mpg because my commute is the worst kind for gas mileage, but this weekend, I managed a surprising 23 mpg! We were on a scout camping trip to Anza-Borrego State Park.

The biggest factor was following our Boy Scout trailer at a slowish 55-60 mph. Coincidentally, I also had set my tire pressures last week at 35 psi, which is higher than I usually have them. During the drives, they were around 39-40 when the tires were heated up. I did have the A/C running (stinky scouts in the truck). I run 285/70 17s.

Fuelly confirmed this morning that this was my best ever (and unlikely to ever be repeated, I think).

Now to figure out how to get a trailer to escort me to and from work everyday. 🤔

It's very possible. Now imagine an SR5 with the 245/70/17s also going 65mph... I was getting 25-27MPG consistently and everyone said it was bullshit :cwl:

Even with the 265/70/17s I can get 25 ez

I got 26 mpg across my state on those stock SR5 tires when I drove home from the dealership @ 65mph!

I hit 20,000 miles and best gas mileage on my trip from western Kentucky to Chicago this past weekend.
24 mpg - Some ECO some Normal - Stock tires 265/65 R18 - Mostly 62 mph.
On the way back home could only get 21 mpg.

I got 23 mpg from Tallahassee to Denver. On the way back I had a trailer and got 19. I bought new tires and now get 18.

What a wasted opportunity! If you would have stayed one foot off the back of the trailer, you could have easily got in the upper 30'S! 😁

I can consistently get 24+ in warm weather. The biggest killer is when the turbo spools up, if you keep your speed under where it wants to use the turbo you get great MPG.
Winter has been rough though, I'm losing 10-15% efficiency in the cold. Which is normal but watching the average trend down has been the worst. I never cared about efficiency in my old vehicle because it didn't have an mpg display, now I treat it like a score I'm trying to beat 🤣
