Interior mod - what to do with the side slot?!

I don’t know what to call this … shifter-side-space? Side slot? Centre cubby?

who has found a use for this space? It’s too deep for a phone or keys etc, hard to get anything out. It seems like a tray-mod or divider would make it way more useful…

It's an odd storage cubby. I keep alcohol wipes for my glasses in there. Not sure what else to do with it. I also got a strange cubby on the dash where I guess the factory trailer brake controller sits. Since I dont have that I have a little useless box in its absence.

My wife puts her sunglasses there. Mine go in the overhead compartment. She's jealous because her Camry doesn't have the overhead sunglass storage! I tell her it's okay, she has auto windshield wipers and memory seats, that I don't have!!! Real World Problems!

It's a great place for chapstick. Otherwise, I agree, it's kind of an awkward, randomly little void.

wallet never leaves my pocket and sunnies in the overhead. I feel like I would throw my phone there if it wasn’t so deep, it inevitably falls over and then I can’t get it out

So I’ve actually been debating modeling and 3d printing something there because I feel like things get “lost” or hard to grab there. Maybe just a rectangular slot but not sure how to optimist it. Maybe different size slots for wallet/ glasses etc

seems redundant to put a box in a box but maybe with dividers it’ll be more useful
