Forgot one. The guys adding all the old school Toyota "ugly shades of orange" to everything. Usually stickers on grills, paint, wherever else they can find some real estate.

If its just for looks and cannot pass the sniff test as purpose built it's cringe. This includes patrolling the burbs in Mad Max configuration on a daily.

As for the NYTOP comment I disagree. Forged wheels and wider carbon fiber flares seem legit choices for performance upgrades.

Same. The quality is definitely there. They also offer local pickups and military/law enforcement discounts.

1. Fang lights and raptor lights. Raptor lights only belong on a genuine Ford Raptor
2. Excessive poke on rims, and just fugly wheel and tire combos. Especially oversized AT tires on SR5 factory silver painted rims.
3. Heritage color inserts on the grill and, well, anywhere on the truck tbh
4. Color matching inserts, covers, stickers on the interior
5. Hood emblems (ex. “TRD Sport”) on trucks that never came with hood emblems. The only emblems that are OEM and legit are TRD Pro and iForce Max.
6. Any modification to the muffler to make it “sound better”. You won’t, you’ll never…it’s a 4 banger and the exhaust note will always be nails on a chalkboard. Don’t make it worse.
7. Trying desperately to make your low trim truck look like and be optioned like a high trim truck. Don’t do it. If it’s an SR5, let it be an SR5.
8. Heritage blue and wave maker blue. These colors are an abomination. The only vehicle that can get away with wild colors is a Jeep Wrangler…but then the people that buy them tend to be wild as well

BUT…to each their own. It’s your money and your truck…make it your own! Just be prepared to have thick skin if you go extreme on the mods and ask peoples opinions lol

I get it’s your truck do what you want, but some people are going a little too far..
They should have bought a jeep. There is some great FB groups that make fun of them for this exact reason.

For me-
-Red accents on everything.. I saw one guy that put red seat covers on, then red trim pieces on everything in the entire interior. Even a early nineties Corvette didn’t have that much red..
- I saw a black SR5 in traffic (Miami) the other day. It had red trim around every door edge and a solid red decal that extended the entire rocker panel.

I find the FB groups are a great resource for what not to do to your truck.
What mods make you cringe?
Ditch Lights. Look moronic. And fang.

Ummm. Ditch lights in Alaska are legit. Moose graze just off the highway in the ditches and magically pop out on the road at 65 mph. You loose every time.
Oh I'm not arguing their utility. I just think they look stupid. If someone gets actual use or utility of 'em, then party on.

Too many cringeworthy and irrational things to list. To be understood, my Tacoma is primarily a work tool and tool for my back country sports in personal time. It's about function vs looks. It performs wonderfully for a trail builder, ski area crew, river guide/shuttle, off road, using 4x4 a lot, and towing so I'd not do anything that would compromise the on road performance.

Additionally, I don't like to stand out when I drive, travel or park in lots of places. That means I purposely looked for white paint, and got a Fas-Top.

:)

I knew that one would ruffle some feathers!!

It's very common over in Ford land...guys with an XLT going through so many hoops, jumps and expense just to install 1 or 2 exclusive features from say a Lariat...only to still have an XLT at the end of the day. But, some enjoy the challenge !

I went to school with a guy like that. Drove a 99 F150 XL and spent so much money on making it look like an SVT Lightning. Bumpers, wheels, badges, etc.... it looked the part and was of course pretty sharp looking but just a plain ol' gutless 4.2L V6 work truck under it all. I could honestly excuse the styling if he didn't also slap the frickin' badges on. That's peak cringe, I think.
