Mods that make you cringe..

I have yet to see a blue crush with machined method 318s so until that happens I'm gonna prance around like the unicorn I am

Went through many phases with my 4Runner before finally finding the right look. It definitely showed which era I’m still stuck in. This may have some influence in what I do with my Tacoma. It’ll definitely be unique.

What in the Hawaii

People adding TRD PRO badges and decals to tacos that are not pro. Or adding them all over. It's like putting a bull on your door and a huge michoacan decal across your window. Lol

I get it’s your truck do what you want, but some people are going a little too far..
They should have bought a jeep. There is some great FB groups that make fun of them for this exact reason.

For me-
-Red accents on everything.. I saw one guy that put red seat covers on, then red trim pieces on everything in the entire interior. Even a early nineties Corvette didn’t have that much red..
- I saw a black SR5 in traffic (Miami) the other day. It had red trim around every door edge and a solid red decal that extended the entire rocker panel.

I find the FB groups are a great resource for what not to do to your truck.

Damn they still make spinners ! Hell yea.

DUB is the only company today that still makes brand new spinners. They have to custom forge them and the smallest they currently make them are 24”. Those start at like $2,150 a wheel. These were those old bolt-on ones from the 2000’s where you had to use 3 special lug nuts per wheel and pray that the wheels you bolt them to were compatible with them. I have several different sets of them I bought off EBay, Shortly after I found the reason why they don’t make these ones anymore.

Funny enough, I have yet to see another Toyota with Spinners or 24” DUB’s in Hawaii yet. I think I was the only one.

I've been to Hawaii a few times (only to Kauai though). My impression of the truck culture there is: Tacoma, period. Any gen, any trim, any mod--just, Tacoma. And I'm here for it.

Hopefully heading back next year for the first time as a Taco owner myself...

That’s the Hawaii way, the Tacoma and the 4Runner has been the #1 and #2 best selling vehicles in Hawaii for decades. You’ll see 4Runner‘s and Tacoma’s being used for everything; Police vehicles, City & County vehicles, Pest Control, Security, News Vehicles, Construction, Landscaping, etc. They are so popular that Toyota even gave Hawaii their own one year exclusive edition called the Waialua Edition back in 2019 to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of Servco in Hawaii (The sole distributor of Toyota in Hawaii). I even heard through my dealer that there may be a special anniversary edition of the 2026 Tacoma to celebrate it being the #1 selling vehicle in Hawaii.

Everyone in Hawaii does everything they can to keep their Tacoma‘s alive. No matter the age, mileage, or condition, you’ll be surprised how many requests I get at the parts counter asking for parts for ones from the 80’s and 90’s. Makes it difficult when Toyota discontinued a lot of the parts for them, but it definitely doesn’t stop them from finding a way to fix them.
