Hi Everyone,

My name is Jeff, and I have been exploring this forum for a little while now and am grateful for the wealth of information and ideas being shared. This is a great community.

I bought my '24 Tacoma SR (build date 11/24) at the end of January '25 as I had the need for a mid-size truck to support multiple property rebuild projects I have going on post hurricane Helene and Milton. I was looking for a truck with "good enough features for me", 4wd, and a manual transmission. I like the simplicity of the manual SR, and I was fortunate to find the only one (at the time) within my 100-mile online search to be located 10 miles away from me in Lakewood Ranch.

So far, I am really enjoying this truck and have already racked up 8,600 miles. I have driven it from Bradenton, FL to Richmond, VA and back while racking up the miles driving between various projects going on in Florida.

Thus far I have only made a few changes of removing the front air dam, added an OEM trifold tonneau cover, OEM mud flaps, and a retractable rear bed step. I will be upgrading / upsizing the tires when the current tires wear out as I like what member Stephen @TheBandit has going on with his SR with mounting 255/80 R17 on the factory wheels. I may also add a skid plate as I might do some light to moderate off-roading on the Florida Adventure Trail from time to time.

Thanks for your time

Kindly,
Jeff

That looks really good, Jeff. Sometimes the SR & SR5's look cleaner & better than the more pricey trim levels.

Howdy from a fellow manual transmission enthusiast. 🙋‍♂️
Thank you! I like the clean look too and it actually wasn't intentional. A few days after I bought it and observed others in the wild, I realized "hey I am really basic" as I have no exterior Tacoma or model badging on the doors or pillars. Consequently, I have also since removed the dealership decal that was on the tailgate as well.

Welcome. You've got a great-looking truck. (mine is a lower trim level too, but like you, it's got everything I need and absolutely love it)

Hey neighbor, I’m in Venice, FL about 80 percent of our time and PA the other time with no real pattern to when we travel. I have driven my Sport down and back and enjoyed the trip. I purchased the truck in October in PA but have been using Venice Toyota for service. The service manager John W is great.

Congrats and welcome. The truck looks so nice. It once again reinforces that I should have held out for a white one - my favorite truck color, easy to maintain, and hides dirt and abuse well. Wishing you many safe and happy miles!

Thank you and much appreciated! I also like white for the very reasons you mention and am happy with how easy it is to keep clean looking. Thanks again for the welcome note and all the best to you, Jeff

Hi neighbor, thanks for your welcome note and for passing along information about your service manager. So far, I have only had my first 5k service (oil change and tire rotation) at Gettel Toyota in LWR. Although they did mention that an oil change wasn't due until 10k, they understood that I would be more comfortable with having it done at 5k proceeded to do it without a hassle. So far all is good. Safe travels on your back and forth to PA.

I also went with the manual transmission , it was a little difficult to find the color and trim pkg we wanted. We drove from central MI to St Louis MO to get it. I love driving a stick again.

Welcome! My first Taco was a white, '87 with standard cab, 4 cyl, 4 spd manual, and hand crank windows along with a ladder rack modification. It got me started on the full Taco experience. Yours looks so clean and efficient that it kinda gave my heart a little tug. Congratulations and safe travels!
