Criminy. I'll have to buy one this spring. Thanks.
Keep an eye on pricing. Normal price is $500 but they routinely put it on sale for ~$300-350. I believe everyone has the same pricing, and the same sales, so Home Depot is a convenient place to pick one up when they're on sale. Also, ping me or one of the other guys when you're thinking of buying it and I can get you a code that will get you a free month of service.

Yeah the $5/month for 500kbps/unlimited data is very adequate for my communication needs in the bush. Can stream spotify, make voice calls, do mapping, and search google without problem. This covers what i need when I'm out of service most of the time.

Doomscrolling and watching video doesn't work that well, but if i need that stuff you can just drop $50 to cover that for the month on demand and switch back at any time.

My biggest gripe is that the truck doesn't allow for a Wi-Fi connection, and your phone can't be connected to both Starlink and the truck at the same time.
I have an AI box, which is a workaround to this, but it would be nice if my phone and carplay would work while on starlink.
Big gripe of mine as well! Currently I’m using wired carplay when connected to starlink wifi since wireless carplay gets bumped by the wireless connection.

This is kind of annoying though and you have to use the plug at the top right of the screen since other usb ports are charge only.

What’s the AI box? Any other thoughts about how to overcome this limitation? I tried splitting the 2.4/5ghz bands on the starlink hoping the phone could use one for wifi and one for carplay but no dice.

I don't have pics but the easiest way I found to route cables into the truck for this type of purpose is through the subwoofer enclosure. If you take the four nuts holding the subwoofer off you'll find that the subwoofer is externally vented through a baffle. Cut a couple of pieces of the plastic mesh on the baffle and drill a hole in the side of the subwoofer cabinet and cables will route through into the truck without any other cutting. The entry point has a flap that prevents water and whatnot getting in and I've noticed no difference in the sound quality of the speaker.

I have this one but it appears they have a newer model

Overall it works well, and opens up some nice features, like using the full screen for videos and more flexibilty in apps vs what carplay allows for.

Nice so if i understand correctly you plug this box into the wired carplay port on the screen and then connect the box directly to starlink wifi, is that right? Then your phone isnt even involved in carplay setup at all?

That's exactly right.
