Expensive but...
It's doable as a DIY project using rolls of 3M PPF available on Amazon. I did the same on my (then new) 2016, and it looked as good as the day I installed it when I traded it in last August.

There are plenty of good YouTube videos on how to apply it.

I did the whole truck. Expensive but I’m running tight trails and if you look at this paint wrong, it gets scratched.

I ran a trail this last weekend that had some painful screeching as branches/limbs ran down the side of the truck. Washed it the following day to see if there was any damage. None whatsoever where the PPF was installed. The black fender flares suffered some minor scratches but that’s it.

Now a firm believer in PPF, but certainly dependent on what you intend to do with the truck.
That is exactly why I did my whole truck too. It is too pretty to tear up and too capable to keep it off the trails it was built to conquer.

Yep - you can do it yourself with some patience and time and if you don't want to pay a detailer that would definitely be my suggestion too.

Is Expel and 3M considered equal and a matter of preference? There's another brand that I've read great things about too..... starts with an S.

Howdy, New here waiting to buy a OR. How much are y'all spending on full coverage PPF?

Doesn’t sound unreasonable for the whole truck. Considering it heavily due to this being my retirement truck.
Thank you.
You are welcome!

I debated all the areas I should cover and at first did not intend to do the whole truck. I started with planning for just the front clip and fender flares, but the sides need protection too, and where do you stop? I drive off road sometimes with my tailgate down and that causes chips and when a friend told me he had chips on his roof I got a quote on the whole truck.

I intend to keep this truck for a long time and it is a great feeling knowing it is protected. My detailer had it for a full work week and did an excellent job, so I thought that price was reasonable too.

Mine was $6,500
These prices take me aback. I PPF'd the forward-facing metal* portions and the top of the rear fenders (under my cap's side doors) for about $150 using 3M's PPF purchased by the roll.

I didn't do the plastic portions around the grill–because they don't take a beating like the metal does–that's based on my two previous Tacos and it's the same with my 2024 that has 12,000 miles on it.

To each his own, but installing PPF is doable after watching a couple of YouTubes.

I agree. Definitely going to PPF the whole truck. My Corolla has 345,000 miles on it and the roof looks like the moon.

I agree and I would have liked to learn how to do that. But my work schedule is crazy and that means little time but enough money to pay to have it done professionally.

My detailer said that the hood on my Pro was one of the toughest he had done, and that there were always issues with the depressed tailgate lettering. So getting my Pro done by a pro seemed like my best bet.
