Update: I've messed up my MAF sensor with oil from the air filter after making this change. Dealership replaced the sensor. I'll be looking for a TRD pro intake to swap out now.

I can't recommend the modifications I've made to block the snorkel.
Did you add an Cold Intake System? K&N ?

Has anyone put a TRD Pro airbox on there TH ? I think it draws air from the side of the truck from the fender (similar to the TH) and wondering if it also draws air from the front bottom like the TH ?

I really like how quiet it has become with just the side elbow removed (I kept the front rubber plug in for the time being). Now to figure a solution for the hole in the fender where the RAI exits the fender and goes up the A-pillar.
The metal clip that attaches to the upper A-pillar is also a issue to be dealt with.

I put the Stillen intake in. I tried to buy a TRD pro one but the dealership couldn't get one for me.

I'm very happy with the Stillen one so far.

Thats awesome. Do you have a link to the Stillen intake? Did dealership install this or you do it yourself? What's the noise difference like? Very interested to give this a try.

If you are like me and looking to get rid of the high desert air-intake (snorkel) because of how annoyingly loud it is with windows down, I figured it out. I spend too much time in the mountains or out on desert roads with the windows down and the intake noise made my wife and I roll the windows up. Not anymore!

You need 2 parts and 4 clips to convert the Trailhunter airbox to route like the TRD Pro airbox:

PTR03-35241-AE - Taco Coupling Kit (This is the red elbow for the front intake basket and the red cap that will cap the port being used by the high-desert intake)

17752-AK010 - Inlet, Air Cleaner (this is the inlet basket that hooks up to the red elbow and clip in above the front radiator support)

90467-07217 - clips (4 needed to clip in the inlet)

The work is pretty straightforward/intuitive and should not need any instructions. I think their are some YouTube videos out there from other aftermarket intakes that would show you removal. The only 2 bolts are the 10mm bolts holding the rubber elbow that connect to the high-desert intake in the fender.

I cannot say enough about how happy I am with this mod and being able to keep everything factory. Windows down is enjoyable again! I also did not realize how much of the intake noise you actually do hear with the windows up. Just got used to that over the 20K miles, but now it is weird for it to be gone.

I just ordered the parts. Thanks!

Thanks Dr Tron, I just pulled the middle RAI piece between the rubber elbow and upper RAI (that attaches to the A-pillar). I was hoping that it would quite the airbox noise but not so much (way better than stock though). I was just thinking that I wish I had a TRD pro sitting next to my TH so I could see if the parts would swap.
Do you have a before/after pic of the airbox mod?
Thanks agin Dr Tron for chasing this mod down. Now we just need someone to 3D print a cover for the fender and I'll take off the snorkel piece.
