I am adding some lights to the rear and want to use the 5amp aux switch. Based on the card that came in the bags with the pigtails, the rear only works with the 15amp switch. Am I misunderstanding something here? Seems like a waste to use the 15 amp switch for a 2 amp light. I want to use the 15 amp down the line for a larger light bar. Pic for reference

In a thread for SPV light installs for the ARB Steel rear bumper, there are a few who have swapped the wire that powers the rear accessory. I did the same so that the 5A wire is powering the rear. De-pinning the harness was tricky, and I ended up splicing in a Toyota pigtail connector.

For ditch lights or some reverse lights the aux switches are great. Once you start adding in big light bars and other auxiliary lighting they quickly run out of juice. Moving to an Auxbeam switch setup to handle higher amp lights.

Thanks! I just found that thread. You are right, the pinning seems tricky. I wish someone would make the modified pigtails and sell them for people like me who struggle with that type of modification haha. I'd happily pay for that

I had the same issue. I have a big light bar up on my roof rack and small chase lights in the back on the bed rack. So in the engine compartment where you plugged in, I switched the wiring of the 5a and the 15a rather than doing it in the back so I could control the specific auxiliary switches for the lights

by switching the wires do you mean you swapped them out on the harness like the person specified in the SPV thread or did you do something else?

I spliced them then applied connectors

After struggling to de-pin and feeling I had compromised the factory connector, I ended up getting this and splicing it in so I could use the 5A switch for the rear.

Got it. So if I’m understanding you, you cut the factory pigtail for the rear and installed this in its place and wired the 5amp from the front pigtail to this new connector? Sorry if i am misunderstanding. I am much more of a visual learner. Any chance you could snap a pic for me?

You have it right. The factory wiring harness has the black wire going to power the rear, I spliced in this harness to the White 5A wire.

Thank you!! I really appreciate all the replies to this thread. I'm going to buy that piece and give it a shot. I have a backup set of pigtails from a buddy who unfortunately totaled his 2024 and bought a Ford instead so I am going to test it on those first.
