Removing TRD CAI for SXTH CAI?

Alright so I was scrolling social media and saw someone remove the TRD PRO cai and install the SXTH CAI and then tune it to run the SXTH.
What would be the point of that ? Isn't the cai that comes stock on the pro superior to the SXTH ? If not, at least the same ?
I feel like I've seen at least one person here pay a pretty penny to get the TRD CAI and tune their rig to run it.
Seems like a weird thing to do unless it's for marketing dollars.

There's little point in doing that. The T24 engine already draws in cool air with the stock intake. I can't imagine there is any real performance gain to begin with, with a CAI, much less among different brands. They do give a nice throaty sound under throttle though.

Good point. Maybe for more noise. The cone filter and design looked similar, but yea, have heard SXTH is louder

There are gains in the 15 to 18 HP range. Not huge, but not zero either. An intake seems to help if you want to tune the truck.

I think Camtuning shows big improvements with tune and SXTH. If I remember correctly according to his dyno's and tuning there is a big difference between intakes.

check his website, he has dyno's posted, I have the tune and the performance gains are real. Especially after you slap on some big heavy tires. You get it all back and lots more.

I believe it about the tune! I'm more interested in if taking off a TRD Pro intake and replacing with SXTH makes sense

ah, I was thinking you meant stock flat filter, I have questions also about SXTH vs. K&N TRD Pro filter. Im not a fan of the oiled filters for a few reasons and wonder if switching to paper cone type from AFE will affect tune.

Yea I thought I saw a TRD cone filter get removed which, if I'm being honest, didn't even know existed. Basically looked the same so I just couldn't see the point, but don't know much about it
