I just received a notice that my Sirius subscription will be increasing from $5 to $25 a month. What? $300 a year?

I used to listen to Sirius a lot, but I've become an audiobook junkie, so I was going to unsubscribe. When I tried, they came back with, "How's $5 a month for the next year sound?" Or a pop-up, something like that.

Bingo.

I've had Sirius in my vehicles since 2017.

I call every year and tell them I'm cancelling in order to get a lower rate. This has worked every year.

Recently there's not even a need to speak to a person. They literally have an AI chatbot that you tell you want to cancel and they immediately offer a greatly reduced price. Less than 5 minutes and done.

Nice! That trick used to with with Uber One (their premium version). For almost 6 months I had a free membership because they always offered me another free month when I went to cancel.

Online or do you still have to call?

After my 3 month trial, they offered me $5 a month for a year, after the year was up I got an email saying the rate was going up to $24.95. Got online with them to cancel and was offered $7.57 a month for a year, so I went for that. Seems like you'll get a better deal by calling to cancel.

The reception for their music is generally good, but so broken up in the canyons and mountain shadow areas I quit'em and went with audio books when I travel. Good to know about the lower rate, but terrain still has a say.

My 3 month extension @ $5 ends next week, will have to try this.

I've found the Sirius reception is much better on my '25 SR5 and wife's '22 RAV4 than I got on my '12 SR5. Only time it cuts out is in a few spots in the mountains.

I put a few thousand songs on a USB stick that I keep plugged in on the side of the screen if that happens.
