Update on Carlimeki A-Pillar Grab Handles – Thank You for All the Feedback!

Hi everyone,

First off, thank you all for the overwhelming support and valuable feedback on our upcoming A-pillar grab handles for the 4th Gen Tacoma!

Here’s a quick update on our progress:
Our first release will be the driver-side A-pillar grab handle, designed to match the OEM-style passenger side handle with the finger slot design. We’ve created a 1:1 mold based on the original, and the texture and appearance will be identical to the factory passenger-side handle.

We’ve also heard your requests loud and clear for a full-grip version similar to what’s found on the 3rd Gen Tacoma. Our team is currently working on this version—we’ve 3D printed a prototype but have not yet moved into tooling. This version is still in early development and may take some time to bring to market.

In the meantime, you can expect the finger-slot version (driver side) to be available within the next 1–2 months.

Installation video is now live:
Let us know—do you find the install process straightforward or a bit tricky?

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Clarification on the Full-Grip Version

Hi everyone,

We’ve noticed many customers are especially looking forward to the full-grip version. We’d like to clarify how it works:

Our full-grip version is an add-on handle that bolts onto our driver-side and passenger-side A-pillar finger slot grab handles (see example image).

Our final product lineup will have 3 options:

  1. Driver Side A-Pillar Finger Slot Grab Handle (OEM-Style)
  2. Driver Side Full-Grip Add-On Handle (bolts to OEM finger slot)
  3. Passenger Side Full-Grip Add-On Handle (bolts to OEM finger slot)

For the driver side, please note that purchasing only the full-grip add-on handle will not be enough to install. You need to purchase the complete Driver Side A-Pillar Finger Slot Grab Handle (OEM-Style) first, then attach the full-grip add-on on top.

Hope this clarifies things! Please let us know if you have any questions.

That seems like a poor and ugly design. Sorry to be harsh, but that’s not something I’d spend my money on. Just looks tacked on and not well thought out.

If you can make a handle that’s the “finger-slot” design, why not just exaggerate the handle and make it a full grip?

Yes the full grip is much needed!

For build and materials, i think it should match the door handles and the centre passenger handle. That is, boxy in shape and with the rubber material covering it. All while copying the OEM design aesthetics

I have no use for a finger hold grab handle. Nor does anyone else. I suppose it’s better than nothing but this is the biggest design flop on the 4th gen Tacoma and I personally won’t be purchasing anything like it for the driver’s side. I certainly won’t be buying the tack on grab handle that you’ve pictured above. It doesn’t match the overall look of vehicle. Plus I would have to acquire the finger handle to add it. Ridiculous. You guys got our hopes up for nothing. If you design something that actually looks factory and is functional then you’ll have my interest. I’m sure there’s a lot of other vehicle owners who feel the same way. For now I’ll be waiting until someone actually comes up with a design that fits without any additional purchases, is actually useful and looks like it belongs there. Sorry if I seem direct but that design is awful and y’all have wasted your time, effort and money designing a finger grip for the driver’s side when everyone has clearly stated that that design sucks. Plus you actually expect Tacoma owners to purchase it in order to add in the monstrosity of a grab handle that you’ve (pictured above) showed us. No thank you.

It should 100% look like the 4Runner handle below.

I’m not interested in the huge loop handle. It doesn’t fit the design of the truck.

Should look more like a 5g 4Runner grab handle.

Update on the Full-Grip Add-On Handle Sample

Hi everyone,

We wanted to provide a quick update regarding the image showing the full-grip add-on handle.

Please note that the handle shown in the example photo is a 3D-printed prototype sample, used for demonstration purposes only. It is not the final production version.

The final full-grip handle will match the OEM texture and finish of the vehicle interior, making it look seamless and factory-installed—not like an aftermarket add-on.

Thanks for your continued interest and support! Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Not sure that you guys are understanding Tacoma owners. Let me clarify. That sucks. We need a real grab handle replacement for the passenger side and an identical one for the driver’s side. A real handle. Not some tacked on crap. Something that looks factory. Not interested in what you plan on trying to sell. I won’t be buying. Rather do without.

I think the "grab groove" on the passenger side is terrible and useless. Rather than make that, THEN add a "real handle" above the groove, I'd prefer a full OEM style A pillar replacement that eliminates the groove altogether, and just has handles as your 3d printed model shows.

I'd pay $99 per side.

I was searching for grab handle options for my truck and ran across this thread. I concur with the comments above. The tacked on handle looks terrible. Please just make a real grab handle for both sides like AZTaco showed a picture of. That’s what we want!

Hi everyone,

We’re excited to share that we’re currently developing A-pillar grab handles specifically for the 4th Gen Toyota Tacoma!

We’ve noticed that many owners find it a bit challenging to get in and out of the new Tacoma, especially after lifting the truck or adding bigger tires. These grab handles aim to greatly improve ease of entry and exit, providing better support and comfort without interfering with airbags or trim aesthetics.

Before finalizing the design, we’d love to hear from you:

  • Have you felt the need for A-pillar handles in your 4th Gen Tacoma?
  • What kind of design or materials would you prefer (OEM-style, off-road rugged, leather-wrapped, etc.)?
  • Do you have concerns about installation, fitment, or compatibility with airbags or trim?
  • Any other features you'd love to see included?
  • And one more thing — what would be a fair price range you’d be comfortable paying for a high-quality A-pillar grab handle kit?

Your feedback will directly influence our final product, so feel free to be honest and detailed!

We’ll be offering early product photos and perhaps even a few beta test opportunities for forum members ?

Thanks for your time and input!

Looks good, very functional. Necessary mod.... my Trailhunter is used solely for Search & Rescue and getting team members, or subjects, in and out needs to be EASIER. Both sides please.

I have been hoping for something like this. My initial input is if I was presented with a finger groove option and a full grip option I'd be choosing the latter. Something to grab and wrap my fingers fully around (and through) for confidence. Additionally, it can't creak excessively, and should look OEM. I'd love to cover whatever you come up with on YouTube Team Oil drop.
