I can understand that the stock exhaust doesn’t get painted. But for a premium part that’s priced at $600+ you think they’d make it so that the aesthetics look good all the way throughout.

Looks stainless. If it is, painting it isn't the way to go really. Stainless can and will rust, which is normal. But paint will bubble and hold moisture which exasbates it. Just kinda one of those things where its a short term vs long term benefit.
100%. 20 years ago TRDs exhaust were made of T-304. Not sure what the makeup is nowadays. Surely it's still some kind of SS.

Paint, even heat rated paint, eventually fails.

I think it looks great how it comes! I was a little bummed I sold mine, but was also annoyed off and on with the sound it produced depending on my mood lol

Snagged these roush tips for $40, gonna have them welded on higher but keep the resonator.

I like the appearance of what the OP did.

Given the price, it doesn't seem much to ask Toyota to have that last section appear more fabricated, less mass-produced. I don't see coating it though.

Heat cycles, expansion and compression, rocks, salt and other conditions will have any coating wearing quickly.

Reading-up on those DIYing with high-temp paint, many were re-applying every few years.

Three aftermarket exhaust companies I studied, two warrantied the appearance of their coated tailpipes for one year. One, not at all.
