TRD Sport on road ride harshness options

My limited came stock with 18" wheels and Michelin Primacy tires. I'm not a fan of the Primacy line. I have run both the stock Primacy and Defender M/s 2 on my 2025 and the Defenders are leaps and bounds better tires. They were more quite, rode better and a better milage warranty, and I didn't slide in heavy rain like the stock Primacy tires (at 32psi). I am running a different setup now with AT tires, but on road trips I sometimes wish I still were running those Michelin Defenders.
I test drove a 2025 Sport Premium before buying my 2025 Limited and even though it was a Sport 4x4, I thought the 4th Gen Sport rode a lot better than either of my 3rd Gen 2017 Limited or my 2021 Limited.

For road only tires, defenders are amazing. Had some on an old 2x4 Tacoma and those things lasted forever, were quiet on the road, and did well on snow/ice.

They did get a lot harsher for the last 10k of their lives, but I’m gunna put them on my wife’s rav4 when it needs new shoes.

How new is your Tacoma Sport? My 2024 was pretty bumpy to start but with about 10k on it now it seems to have softened a bit. It’s nothing like my old 4runner limited but I don’t mind the ride.

It's a 2025 with just under 6k miles.

Try adding some weight in the bed. Go to Home Depot and get 2 50lb bags of pea gravel…put one in each rearmost corner of the truck bed. Adjust your tire pressures as others have mentioned, and see if it changes (it should help)

I have adjusted the tire pressure and put (3) 40 lb bags of topsoil in the back of the bed. It did have some improvement of the ride harshness. I think though that I need to go the path of better suspension.

Have heard good things about the ride on those Eibach kits. And if you're not doing a bunch of offroad, the Stage 2 Pro kit should be just fine. And it's affordable. Bet you could get a deal through @Panda Motorworks

I have 5100s and they are firm. My Stock Sr5 suspension felt like a sedan, these are much more planted and I feel most things on the highway. I like it, but sounds like it may be a similar ride to the sport suspension.

Yup, add some weight in the rear of bed, makes a world of difference. I have sand tubes 70 lbs each for winter driving up here. Weight for the drive, and ready sand for the stuck, bring a knife to cut the sand tubes.

I would go to Lowe's though...

I have heavy 10-ply sidewall 265/70 KO2's on factory 18's.

If all you want is a softer ride, tossing on the OR shocks would do the trick, probably for less $.

Maybe. The annoying part is this isn't like trying on shoes. I want to avoid doing multiple swaps.

I’ve seen people sell the TRD off-road struts and springs on marketplace, essentially takeoffs when they upgraded their suspension. This might be a good option.

i have a TRD sport and found the ride a bit harsh at first but feel like it’s softened and I like the handling.

You can get take off OR Suspension for a couple hundred bucks, if not free. Cheapest of all options

Pretty sure I'd like it ! I love the firmness of my 5100s. I never test drove the sport, but was under the impression people bought it for the ride.
