Wow what a shame I really like the look of the kilo roof rack too. How’s the noise on it
Noise wasn’t bad until I put the light bar on. Their mount could have been made where it would sit a little lower and closer.

Hmm ok. You mean the mount for the light bar? Every company should be developing some type of adjustable fairing like caliraised imo to block the light bar when not in use. Just not a fan of the overall look of theirs. Maybe time to buy some scans of the roof and CAD one myself

Tips are accepted. ? JK
If you happen to take the rack off or get up there to clean rust, could you measure the distance between bolts? I have a few 3d scans that claim accuracy but would like to know from some measurements and since I can’t open up my weather seals until I mount a rack yeah.

working on a roof rack similar to kilo look with a wind fairing you can raise and lower for light bar/ noise

Interesting! Good to know. I'm super interested in their bed stiffeners as they don't require any drilling. Wonder if they suffer from the same fate.
I've had their bed stiffeners installed since November. No rust anywhere including around the cutouts. And those are on the bottom side where any lingering water/moisture would be.

This post was referenced over at Tacoma World, and having just placed an order for a Kilo rack myself, I had concerns. I reached out to Up Top Overland via email and they responded within an hour:

"Thank you for sharing this link [to this thread] with us. We want to ensure that we are offering the best quality period. While we do laser cut the part numbers on several components, we now apply a base (primer) powder coat before the final black powder coat is applied. This is to aid with corrosion and rust. Since we have been applying the primer base, we have not seen or heard of a single case of rust or corrosion."

Glad to hear they've updated their powder coating process. I hope it remedies the issue!

You can pop off the plastic pieces and pop them back in. That’s all that’s covering the bolt holes except for the seal themselves. But I can measure for you. You looking for a driver side to passenger side, or just looking at distance from each set of bolts?

I like those. I went with Rago and had to drill holes. I don’t recommend.

I bought my rack system in August of 2024.
Kilo rack with their truss bed rack.
they didn’t specify on their website at the time that they switched away from extruded aluminum.
I can confirm every single issue you have with yours. Fitment issues with both racks, missing parts on literally every single thing I’ve purchased from them besides the recovery board mounts.
Barely anything on the market is compatible with this rack, even 80% of UpTops own accessories.
I bought the Ikamper mounts for this rack, and had to slot the bolt holes on my mill because they didn’t fit. (Go figure, an Ikamper specific mount on their proprietary bars)
I’m having all the same rust issues.
This rack system sucks, plain and simple. I still have it because I’m over $2k into it now.

Email them and send pics. I did and they replaced some (not all) of the parts. They blamed it on humidity and not quality control or quality of the product. Last email I sent they didn’t even reply.
I used a piece of plywood and floor jack so I wouldn’t have to completely take off the rack and tent. I took a lot of their parts to my local powder coater and got them done right. I’ll NEVER purchase from them again.

I’ve emailed them every time I had an issue (which has been like 4-5 times now) and they’ve just stopped responding to me entirely so I’m just taking the loss at this point.
10/10 regret the purchase and wish I would’ve returned it as soon as I saw it wasn’t extruded aluminum.
