So it is doable to reach in from the side of the skid plate and change the filter?? Is it a basic screw in filter?

It is a basic screw on filter. I’ve only done one change thus far. I did one at 4k and cut a hole in my skid to access a valvomax drain plug. With an oil filter socket the filter spins loose. I set a small clear dixi cup on the frame to catch the seepage. You can see where pretty easy.

I am lucky to have a sloped driveway where I can have my truck level in the garage and sit upright on my ass to reach across to the filter. Might want blocks otherwise.

I’m sure some would cringe about cutting the skid but the deer lease and beach are my extremes. I do believe in oil changes sooner than 10k.

Makes sense! I have no hesitation to cut a small access hole in order to be able to access a Fumoto type drain plug

I think my old TRD PRO had a little oil change door.

What I don’t like is the dealership over torquing my bolts. I’m about to start changing my own oil - it’s just easier to make warranty claims when the dealer does it.

Victory skid has a notch cut out for oil drainplug access and the front door for oil filter access.

And the dealership mechanics have no issues or problems with this skid plate, no need to remove the whole thing.

I did my first oil change on my trailhunter today. I removed the skid plate easy enough. I measured and cut my own opening for accessing the oil drain plug. I did wake the wife from a nap while running the cut off wheel.

Switched the drain plug to the valvo-max.

The oil filter comes off easy enough with a filter wrench and I set a solo cup to catch the dribbles from the filter removal.

I considered a different skid plate but this was all too easy. And believe me , my garage is pretty darn average.
You think you will be able to change the filter with the skid plate in place?
