So it is doable to reach in from the side of the skid plate and change the filter?? Is it a basic screw in filter?

It is a basic screw on filter. I’ve only done one change thus far. I did one at 4k and cut a hole in my skid to access a valvomax drain plug. With an oil filter socket the filter spins loose. I set a small clear dixi cup on the frame to catch the seepage. You can see where pretty easy.

I am lucky to have a sloped driveway where I can have my truck level in the garage and sit upright on my ass to reach across to the filter. Might want blocks otherwise.

I’m sure some would cringe about cutting the skid but the deer lease and beach are my extremes. I do believe in oil changes sooner than 10k.

Makes sense! I have no hesitation to cut a small access hole in order to be able to access a Fumoto type drain plug

I think my old TRD PRO had a little oil change door.

What I don’t like is the dealership over torquing my bolts. I’m about to start changing my own oil - it’s just easier to make warranty claims when the dealer does it.
