According to Shocks Surplus the factory lift is a downgrade in shock for the TRD OR. You’re not missing out on anything

I reached out to them regarding the Bilstein 5100 and that was just their response to me. The TRD lift kit is a rebadged 5100. TRD OR trucks will need to go to the Bilstein 6112/5160 to properly lift the truck without losing shock performance. Or obviously go Fox, Kings, etc etc.

Lots of prior reports that the OR Bilsteins are lesser than 5100s

Shock Surplus isnt a great source of accurate information.

Interested to see those reports because while it was true in the prior gen trucks, the 4G TRD OR no longer uses 4600s. The 5100 is the same diameter as the stock shock but lacks a reservoir and the ESCV feature.

Toyota parts guy here... I have reached out to Toyota earlier already about the lift kit and when it would be available in Canada, and the response I got was in two parts. First, the lift kit was expected to be available for purchase(not factory installed) by end of year. But this changed because of the second part. Tundra lift kits went on stop sale due to the safety hazard surrounding the spring compression tool possibly breaking and causing serious harm. I would imagine this is causing delays on the Tacoma kits as they are prioritizing getting the Tundra accessory lift ready for purchase as a complete shock assembly(instead of in separate pieces). I would imagine the Tacoma lift kit will come like that as well down the line which means they will likely update part numbers and pricing. I would expect something to be available by early next year for an OEM kit.

I’m glad for the delay. It allowed myself more research and I’ll end up getting the Bilstein 6112s and the TRD UCAs and it’ll still be cheaper.

Thanks for the info.
Can I ask a favor using your Parts expertise? What are the Part numbers for the silver upper control arms from that kit?
I've found the Red Pro, and Bronze TH Id's but I'd like to use the silver ones to go along with whatever I choose when the full lineup of Billstein options becomes available.

Unfortunately as the lift kit was never available in Canada, I do not have access to seeing part numbers for items in the kit. Toyota likes to be difficult and not show listings for parts that are on American or global cars if they aren't also on the Canadian models. Same for accessories.

Leasing a truck, and moding and spending money for upgrades is somthing i dont understand, lol
Unless it can be easily unbolted at the end of the lease. I put an OEM bed cover on my lease, but I can swap that to the next truck.

@Andrace

Hi Andrace! Very useful post!

Could you please share what in the full Bilstein lineup are you looking out to get? Is there any other difference (besides the color) in the UCA Red (Pro), Bronze (TH), vs the Silver that came in the OEM kit! Thank you!

Anybody have an update on this? I saw that the factory lift is now available again on YouTube but want to double check.

I know it’s been discussed that the Tundra lift is the same for the Tacoma but wanted to get confirmation.

I haven't seen any updates nor have I reached out to a dealer in a few months.

Which video? Did you check the date the video was posted?

Called my dealer last week with some suspension warranty questions, they tried to steer me towards the TRD lift kit, but the stop sale is still in place. Parts guy didn't know why. Wouldn't have paid what they were asking anyways since 5100s cost me $500 OTD and are more than capable.

I asked around a month ago and was told that they’re having a hard time sourcing the components to be able to sell them. Not sure how true that is but they did say that it wouldn’t void the warranty.
