I’m pretty sure the consensus is that it’s not AGM but I haven’t learned much about batteries yet, I’m just happy my truck started after sitting for a week and a half
The label says "do not tip or open". I think that implies a standard flooded battery. The AGM type is still lead / acid chemistry, but the acid is in Absorbed Glass Mats (AGM) so it does not spill if tipped on its side.

Yeah I’d like to get a new battery some day, but I’ll be running this until I gain more knowledge or this one fails me

That is what I am doing too. So far my puny battery still starts my truck and I have a jump pack in the glove box for when might not. I will report what my dealer says after it is there for service in a few weeks.

Thanks for that pic. Did it look like there's a little additional space length wise for a H7 battery?

Sorry I have no idea what I'd be looking for regarding batteries, I can do a lot with a vehicle and rebuild engines but I haven't gotten into learning about batteries

According to Optima's website a DH7(deep cycle H7) is a perfect match for a Tacoma hybrid.

As a side note, in the past three weeks my factory battery has been sitting at 11.4 to 11.8 every time I have tested it. It doesn't matter how long I wait to test it (1 hour, 1 day, 3 days). So, bad battery folks (I hope!). I have scheduled a battery test with my 10,000 mile service at the dealership coming right up.

I'm surprised your truck is still starting with such a low state of charge. I drove 5 hours of mostly highway today and mine is sitting at 12.3 volts, which is actually higher than normal. Keeping a battery at that low a charge will eventually kill it, and it sounds like yours might already be toast.

I'll be interested to hear what your dealer says. Mine is going to the dealer in two weeks and I am expecting them to tell me that is normal. I see a DH7 in my truck's future because in my experience they can handle not being kept properly charged much better than a regular battery.

Yeah. I’m carrying a portable starter pack for the inevitable. I’ve been obsessing about this thing for quite a while (my thread post history will back me on that) and this thread prompted me to go to a direct measure of the battery at the terminals. I was stunned. Hopefully there is no issues beyond them just popping a fresh one in. And yeah, Optima is in my future. My last vehicle had a yellow top. It takes a beating.

Yep - my jump pack is in my glove box because it is just a matter of time until the battery gets so low the truck won't turn on. My wife's Lexus BEV SUV discharged its battery, the dealer tested the battery and it was fine. Their only suggestions was that she needed to not stay logged into the app. That works, but it makes me think Toyota has charging problems with the 12 volts in their electrics and hybrids, because I don't even use the app.

I can charge my battery to 100% with a charger but the truck does not keep it there. Over a week or so it always goes back down to 12.1-12.3 volts. I hope it is the battery, but think it is the truck, and I'll see what my dealer says. I have history with yellow tops and they are great, but I shouldn't need one on a one year old truck.
