Well, good news for you folks holding out on a LRA tank. I'm at Overland Expo and I had a chat with them. The tank is in production. Once they receive the first tank it will get installed, and they will confirm fit and function.

  • The tank will operate the factory gauge.
  • It's a 33 gallon tank.
  • It does not hang down. They increased capacity by going up, and out.
  • Cost, around ~$2,600. Might have been $2400, I don't remember.
  • ETA, mid September.
  • If you are on their wait list they will send you notification.
My man! These 37's dont agree with the small gas tank. Appreciate the info, I've been on that waitlist for ever.

I've been following this thread like a hawk and even subscribed to LRA's email notifications for updates. Surely somebody has an inside scoop or a status update by now? I'm ready to put a deposit down today for a bigger fuel tank because I can't stand this 18 gallon tank. It's atrocious having to refuel every 230-240 miles. Shame on Toyota for giving us such a small tank while advertising 23 to 24 MPG when 90% of us are lucky to see 17.5 MPG, even with a light foot.... on STOCK TIRES and FACTORY SUSPENSION.
Their instagram update today indicates 8/5 availability, or at least release details.

Those of you on the wait list can now crack those wallets open. I just got the email, like I suspect you all did. The tank will be available for order July 31st to those on the wait list. Here is what I received.

----------------------
For months, we have been asked one question more than any other:

"When will you release the long-range fuel tank for the 4th Gen Tacoma?"

After months of engineering, testing and refining, the wait is finally over. We've completed final fitment, finished installation and testing, and are ready to share it with you.

As a member of our waitlist, you'll get exclusive early access to purchase our first batch of tanks on July 31, just a few days before the public launch on August 5.

Demand for the first production run is expected to be extremely strong, which is why waitlist members are receiving priority access.

When your early access email arrives, you'll be able to:
  • See the full product details, including pricing, capacity, and more
  • View photos and installation images
  • Purchase and reserve your tank from our initial shipment
  • Lock in exclusive waitlist pricing, available only before launching to the public on August 5.
We'll reveal waitlist pricing when early access opens on July 31.

Thank you for following along and for letting us know this was a product you wanted to see. We can't wait to get it into your hands.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your early access begins July 31 at 8:00am MT. You will be emailed a link to purchase and reserve your tank.

Got the email too and read it to wifey. Asked if we should get the tank. Her response was a vehement “YES.” 🍾
As long as the spare can stay put. If it can’t she’ll make me put on a DirtCom TrailSwing. 💸

Over the years, like 40 of them, I've installed three spare tire replacement tanks (1982 short bed, 1985 4R, 1985 xcab). I also had a hell yes from wifey.

Unfortunately, she is no longer around to put her stamp on the Helivue I ordered.

She was cool…my sympathies.

I’m curious to see if the DTE gas meter would actually be accurate with the new tank. I’m not getting my hopes up (from other vehicles with expansion tanks), but it would be pretty cool if the 4th gen system could recognize the larger tank and update the range accordingly.

If it replaces the OE tank: maybe - but I highly doubt it.
If it doesn't and is a feeder tank into the main tank, maybe - but I highly doubt it.
If it is an external tank with no connection to the main tank, no probably not whatsoever.

Early bird access and specifications, suppose to be DIY friendly 5 hours of work. Super easy with no modifications

Considering it for my 24 TH but the statement about fitment on iForceMax has been confirmed and the disclosure that the tank may be illegal nationwide is concerning as to maybe having Toyota void warranty..

Disclaimers

  • Long-bed fitment to be confirmed
  • I-Force Max to be confirmed
  • Leaf-sprug fitment to be confirmed

Close to pulling the trigger on this for my '26 from the early access email. Has anyone seen installation instructions? I know it says DIY, but their pictures also have the truck up on a lift. Generic tank removal instructions seem to be fairly common online, so I'm assuming installing the LRA tank is mostly reversing that process.

Follow up question - Does anyone know if the DTE can be adjusted via OTT tune/etc?
