The chirp doesn't bother me so I'm less inclined to get this fixed. If it is an indicator of a failure mode, then sure I would get it replaced. If it's just a sub-second annoyance then I don't really want to have them pull my truck apart for this (depending on what the fix is).

Wonder if this is drivetrain or B2B warranty work?

Seems like a lot of trucks will be exiting the B2B warranty. I've got extended warranty, so I'll give it another year and then get a free AC recharge when they do the work

AC needs to be evacuated for this, then compressor comes off to replace clutch.

I’ve had an extremely annoying chirp sound from the beginning.

However, to me it always sounded like it was coming from behind the vents and seemed to be related to the motor/servo? or whatever is back there that moves the dampers to change the airflow.

Is this what you guys are hearing with yours, or is it something different coming from under the hood?

It drives me nuts and would love to get it fixed. However, if part of that is ripping apart the dash then I’ll pass. I’d rather deal with it than have the whole dash pulled apart and never be the same. It’s why I never even bothered to mention it to service as an issue.

Usually it's two distinct chirps at startup. You can usually hear it anytime the AC is running too.

Curious to know if 4 Runners have the same issue.

Ah, yours skipped the chirp state and went straight to the spontaneous combustion state.

Are you guys only hearing it on initial startup or every time the compressor cycles? I only hear it on initial startup. 1 chirp and that's it. Maybe because the windows are up or I just have bad hearing? I never hear anything from the vent area inside the truck.
