Took my 2025 4th-gen Tacoma (TRD Sport Premium) over a snowy pass last weekend and for a stretche the dash went full Airbus A320 cockpit… possibly MCAS having feelings. 😅

Everything lit up orange and I got the same messages looping like I’d forgotten to silence the Master Caution:
  • “Parking Assist OFF”
  • “Stop and clean the radar”
  • plus the usual “feature unavailable” greatest hits
I do understand what’s happening — snow/ice was packed on the front radar/sensor area (emblem/grille zone). I hit OK/Cancel because… yeah… I acknowledge the system is INOP until the sensors clear.

But the warnings keep coming back. If I “ACK” it once, I don’t need the Tacoma re-reading the preflight checklist every 30 seconds like I’m about to taxi onto Runway 27L.

Questions:
  1. Is there a way to mute/silence the repeating pop-ups after acknowledging them? Basically “Thanks, I got it — INOP noted.”
  2. Is there a quick way to toggle off the affected systems so it stops nagging until the sensors are clear?
  3. Has anyone tried an OBD scanner (Techstream/Carista/other) to reduce the alert spam or temporarily disable the assist features without triggering a Christmas tree of codes?
  4. Anyone tried ceramic coating or Rain-X (or similar) on the emblem/radar cover area to keep snow from sticking? (Or does that make the sensor freak out even more?)
I’m totally fine losing the driver assists in heavy snow — I just want the dash to stop acting like I’m flying an approach in icing conditions.

Any tips appreciated.

Clean the sonar sensor. Problem solved. Ya, it's annoying. Mine doesn't make any audible noise. Just the lights on the dash. It helps to turn off adaptive cruise control and just go conventional cruise. This last summer my issue was mud, and mosquitos.

my 2024 does it. Pretty sure the 2021 also did. Just go away after I acknowledge it! It wouldn't be so bad if it just had a lamp lit, but it covers everything.

I want to say the 2018 just told me and then went away with just a small indicator lit until it was cleared.

Watching for solutions too. Cleaning it off is a pain when driving in a blizzard. And depending on the conditions, it doesn't last very long. There must be a way, but really I just want an easy way to silence everything. Going through an automatic car wash is another time I wish for a silence button. I know I can dig into the settings and turn off a bunch of stuff, but was hoping there would be another way so everything gets set back to normal when things settle down.

Are you talking about the proximity sensor warning in the carwash? Yes, you can turn that off in the settings. I've had to turn those warnings off when I'm off road. The brush made them cranky. I don't remember how, and I always need to hunt for the setting.

can we add a little element around the radar and connect it to one of the aux switch? Won't help with the bugs, but snow ice could melt.

Toyota, are you reading this? This solution is what the owners would like to see, please!

Here's my truck during the recent ice storm...not sure how much I cleaned off but the sensor seemed to function OK.

I have a buddy that works for Toyota. Currently, he has a Rav4 (temporary since his Tundra is recalled). He is aware of the issue, but noticed his Rav4 doesn't ice up. Trust me, I vented over this the last time we met for beer.

Not sure where you'd put anything like this unless it was in the back side. You're gonna have a bad time if you try that on the face.
