5K on the Tacoma now. Decided to see what all the fuss was about with Amsoil 0W 20 signature series, and did an oil change with it.
Prior to this 5K oil change I had done two others with Toyota 0W 20.
For what ever reason the diesel-like sound at low speed while accelerating on an incline is gone or vastly diminished and the motor is quieter at idle.

Amsoil with Prolube is the most superior oil on the market hands down. Next to that would be the Penz UP again with Prolube. Keep in mind with turbos you should not push oil changes and even reduce the recommend miles.

Congrats welcome the the Amsoil Fanboy Club. Expect hate 😂

I do 3K oil changes. Old school and likely a waste of money but I am retired so...why not.
I do a lot of hauling heavy dual sport dirt bikes up to the Eastern Sierra and it gets hot in the summer up and down the 395.

Our family has been using Amsoil for decades. My uncle use to build top fuel VTwin drag motors and swore by it. We use it on everything from our Dirt Bikes, Rails, Etc. ppl like to hate because it doesn't have specific US ratings however it supercedes all US specs and is highly used. Prolube is another great product with all the chemical science to back not just a snake oil.

Amsoil has always been a great topic and the haters follow quick. Pay attention your running temps it's amazing.

Me? I'm switching over to Valvoline Restore and Protect on the next change.
Keep us posted on your findings. Seems like Amsoil did pretty good with temp, wear, and turbo. Not great was torque and shear, but I change at 3K so I am not concerned with shear and not cornered with peak torque.
The Restore and Protect sounds intriguing.
Also thanks for the Lake video...funny, I ran redline once in the JL and things got hot quick off road crawling. Never again.

Yes temps are a big deal to me, triple digits in the summer cruising by Death Valley to get to where I am going. I get the hate, the marketing is lame.

I used to run Amsoil in my 1987 Acura Integra five speed 2-door hatchback. That car absolutely purred with Amsoil.
Used in some other cars and my first truck (1993 Mazda B2600i long bed) for 15 years cars until my Amsoil dealer retired.

I have been considering becoming an Amsoil dealer now that I’m retired. We have such a car culture where I now live in Ventura, California. For now, I am running Toyota OEM oil through the engine warranty period. Call it an abundance of caution, a.k.a. paranoia. My understanding is that the Toyota OEM oil is Mobil 1 with additional molybdenum. Shrug, sometimes I obsess; other time just say fuggit, it’s brown and slippery

Cheers!

My experience with used oil analyses does not support this idea of turbos needing low mileage oil changes. I tracked a lot of oil changes on my 2007 WRX and then 2006 STI. I used Rotella T5 or T6, whatever was there. I was getting over 7500 miles, with plenty left on the oil. This is even will taking the car to the track. With a modern engine like we have in our Tacomas, I don't know why we couldn't do the same. Anything under 5,000 miles is insane to me; might as well light the money on fire.

Turbos do have a a huge key factor I've seen 4 replaced at the dealer thus far. However my comment was as precaution. Amsiol can run up to 10k if not 13k easily with filters up t 18k but I'll stick to 3500. You do you.

I’ve never really gotten the “oil thread” comments. I’m not going to dissuade you from using what you’d like, changing it when you’d like or using the filter you’d like. As long as it’s not extra virgin olive oil, run what ya brung! ALMOST every oil in the parts store meets the ILSAC-6A requirements which is all you really need for warranty. Everything else is gravy.

They happen on every forum. This one is, so far, very nice and civil. Some of the ones on NASIOC got outright nasty.

Yeah. But as long as the item meets the specifications it’s designed for, run it. It’s when stuff promises one thing, but is proven detrimental, that pisses me off.
