Just use the screen. That is the mode button on every car out there. You have to cycle all the modes you don’t use. The infotainment has been awesome. No lag and working great.

I H8 android auto! My 11 year old Prius was more intuitive when it came to hands free calling. Seems like I can't use voice commands to make a call with android auto. I really only want android auto when I wantcto use GIAA gps software on my phone offroading. Otherwise android auto stinks!!!

Others have also mentioned not being able to split screen with the radio and map. Shoot, my son's 2022 Tacoma can do that! Bad step backward on that one Toyota!
Mine does but only when using Apple CarPlay. I live in CarPlay so it’s all good for me.

I solved the issue I think. I switched youtube music vanced and had to enable developer options on my phone inside of android auto and check to show unknown sources. Then other apps became available to display on the screen page. It took a few minutes to appear on my screen but it now shows my playlist and such. I can finally adjust the volume without it switching to Reuters news.

My issue right now is that when using the usb cord to listen to podcasts or music thru my phone the sound gets all scratchy and cuts out off and on if the cord is even slightly moved. Hoping it was just a bad cord I tried it in a couple other cords then on a brand new unopened usb cord and it was still like that. I’m guessing where the usb plugs into the top side of the screen on the passenger side is bad or something. Hopefully it’s an easy fix but I haven’t looked into that yet

I had the same frustrations going between Apple Music and Sirius. I ended up adding Sirius to CarPlay and that solved everything. The only audio buttons I use on the wheel is the volume.

Yes that is really my one big disappointment. The screen is not much more than a tablet. Little to no vehicle information is displayed. While I mostly keep it off I need to scroll through a menu to turn it off. Just have a damn floating off button.

I keep it off unless I need a map, but it decides it wants to turn on about every 5th time I jump in the truck. If I do have it on, it decides to change to a different screen the next time I jump in.

then there is the CarPlay link issues that most cars have. At least it’s fixable while you drive unlike my Honda .

time for a software update.

I just read a review of a new Toyota product that has a new OS for the screens. The biggest complaint of the current system is the clunky navigation through the steering wheel buttons, and how few things can be changed through the main screen. The new system puts a lot more things on the infotainment screen and is a lot easier to navigate. Unfortunately it is an entirely different system and probably will never come to our trucks.

Exact reason I never considered a Colorado. Turn your headlights on through the touchscreen, wtf?
I saw a BMW review that showed how you had to use the touch screen to adjust the outside mirrors. Tesla is the worst, where almost everything is done via the touch screen, often multiple menus deep.

I was driving a rental Chevy onto a military base a few years ago, and my passenger who was also a former marine kept saying, turn off your lights, turn off your lights. I said I know the rules, but the guards are just going to have to live with it because I don't know how to turn off the F'ing lights. I later found it buried in a menu.

Some things shouldn't be digitized.

Well I agree for sure on that. But all the 4x4 modes, angles, tire pressure etc should be on the big screen. The MID display should only be for the usual engin instrumentation. Although I could see a reason to duplicate the water temp and trans temp onto the big screen when off-roading.

but for sure the touch screen used to turn your headlights on is stupid.
