Belt chirp when a/c turns on

Hey there, I bought my 2024 Tacoma TRD sport new in May, around 2k miles is when I started to notice the same squeak noise. I’ve taken it to the dealership and reported it every time I had my oil change and tires rotated, at 11k miles now and they scheduled me to come in today. Turns out there is an active case on this issue and they had to do a conference call with the manufacturers.

They determined the issue is due to the “clutch magnet” in the AC compressor.
They ordered the following parts:
1.Clutch Assy, magnet
2. Gasket kit, overhaul
3. Two ring snaps

I also have like 2 chirps on a cold start and I am at around 1700 miles. I don’t seem to hear it if I’m starting and the A/c is in the off position. I don’t know if it was there before. If so I never paid it much attention. I will almost swear I hear it a random a few times when I first start driving but it’s kind of hard to tell. Seems like after everything is warmed up and after 5-10 minutes I don’t notice anything.

I have a 2024 Sr5 and it had this A/C chirp.. long story short I took it into Toyota and it needs a new alternator. Currently awaiting a rental due to the alternator being back ordered (2-4 weeks...) I will update when it is back in my possession!

Of course every time I try to take a video, it doesn't happen. I was thinking the same thing with the a/c clutch. I'm going to try and get it in to the dealer soon. I'll report back with their findings.

my dealer is replacing my A/C clutch due to this issue. of course though, it's on back-order.

I have this problem with my 2024 Tacoma. After a few thousand miles it started getting 2 chirps at startup and then it periodically chirps every 30 seconds or so when the HVAC is turned on. The dealer is planning to replace the entire compressor.

I recently purchased a 2025 Tacoma Sport, and at first, I didn’t think much of the noise I heard when starting it up I honestly thought it was just a bird chirping nearby. But I started paying closer attention and realized it only happens if the A/C is on during startup.

The other day, I was in a parking garage and turned the A/C on about five minutes after the truck had already been running. As soon as the compressor engaged, I heard the same chirping noise, and this time it echoed so it was definitely coming from the truck.

It seems pretty clear the sound is tied to the A/C compressor kicking on. What I’m wondering is: how is this happening to so many people and there’s no TSB or recall for it? Is this actually considered normal? And if not, what’s the root cause?

I’m quite surprised there hasn’t been a TSB or a recall yet.
