Glad you had a good experience. I have a Curt and want my old Tekonsha
Prodigy P3 back šŸ˜’
I have that one too believe it or not. When I found out there was no plug in my Tacoma for it I was really really upset. But the wireless one is very similar.
Pig tailing and extensive wiring are beyond my capabilities. Why there is no plug in 4th gen is baffling to me. I’m just a plug and play kinda person. Those schematics make my eyes cross. Easier for me to just go wireless

I agree, it makes no sense, especially when the 4Runner has the wiring, but is rated to tow less. Any competent trailer shop should be able to install a controller, but sounds like your Bluetooth unit is working well for you.

Yeah, I decided that too. Wireless I just easier but I still think what Toyota is doing is just wrong. And, now I bought the Curt and hate it and don’t think I can return it and get a Tekonsha wireless. Maybe when I save up more money. I hate this Bluetooth stuff. Always a slight delay in braking and I’ve had trailer brakes lock up at low speed. This Curt thing is garbage for how much it costs.

I really appreciate all of the knowledge shared on this thread. I currently have a 2018 TRD OR with a P3 brake controller wired through the factory plug. I am looking at updating to a 2025 TRD. There are enough differences between the 3rdGen and 4thGen that I am carefully doing as much research as I can, and this forum is priceless. It's not that I don't trust the dealer to tell the truth, the salesrep is a personal friend, it's that I know he doesn't have all of the technical answers and, as other have shown, the resources for the dealer to get the answers is lacking. I know now that I'll either get the Sport/OR Upgrade package ($4800) or plan on the Prodigy wireless controller. It will cost me more than the cost of the new wireless controller to get someone to wire in my old P3 (I'm lazy now). Anyway, thank you all.

Yes, thank you. I'd get the heated seats regardless, so it's really only a $4000 package to me. Still, $4000 for the brake controller and heated steering wheel (I'm indifferent about the other additions), is a tough decision I'm yet to make. Okay, $400 for the Prodigy, so now it's only $3600. We'll see.

unless you're a Toyota sales rep trying to up-sell me :)
I'm not, but when I started looking for my Taco, I'm glad the salesman I was dealing with found an OR with the Premium package.

It was certainly more than I was looking for, but I'm glad I went with it.

Same with my current truck. Too late in the year to order custom, and my must haves (color, heated seats, and manual trx) left only a few choices. As it was, I had to go 350 miles to get it. No tears, it's a great truck. I expect to find a similar situation again, so I may indeed end up with the Premium.
