Dirty engine oil, extended manufacturer recommended oil changes worth it?

Same or similar! The turbo relies on clean oil to keep it cool and lubricated. I change every 3K.

After all, oil is cheap as compared to engines! I've 9 oil changes on mine, just sitting @ 26K miles. That's just under 3K. Actually the first 3 or so were basically right on top of one another.

Absolutely! I've replaced enough neglected ecoboost turbos at work that I'm not gonna chance it on my own vehicle.

Did my first 3 oil changes in 1300 km, then every 5000 km. Done it that way for 55 years. I never had an engine issue on about 12 different vehicles. Just my 2 cents.

I notice he uses Pennzoil Platinum. Wonder why. Maybe it's because it's a step above other oils, being a GTL product.

Lake also has said, frequent oil change is more important than brand of oil. So use your favorite brand and change often.

My Tacoma is at my dealer right now getting its first oil change with 561 miles on it. I will do the 2nd at 2000. Then the 3rd at 4000. I plan to do the oil changes every 4000 from there on out.
