I just also want to clarify that I ended up on the 819s.
@elturco good to know, thanks. I'm in conversation with Dobinsons as the 817's are wildly over performing. I have 750-800lbs on the truck and I'm still sitting at 1.5" of rake and with 2.25" with 400 lbs. These results are out of spec leaving me with more rake than I'd like.

Few other observations. Somewhat unsurprising (but also likely in part tied to the overperformance of the springs) is that the front end (stock) feels really loose. And perhaps more annoyingly, i've dropped from an average of 440-480kms (70-30 hwy/city) to flirting with 400km per tank. In conversation with folks, we're attributing it to a substantial hit to aerodynamics as well as more front bob given the relative stiffness of the back end.

Is anyone else experiencing similar?

My options are to raise the front end with a spacer (band aid solution as there will be no change to ride quality and handling), or go with a suspension upgrade and 2" front lift to bring it up to just shy of level (still likely .75-1" rake). Ideally, I'd go with a little less of a front lift.

I'm looking at the Dobinsons IFS kit, but am open to options.

Thoughts? Perspectives on what to do?

Well, you really need to pay attention to your use case and specially how much weight you plant to carry around. Some have variable weights and opt to include air bags in their setup as they may go from 0 to 1000 pounds when camping with their trucks.

Those of us with a constant weight with minimal variance, opted for spring upgrades to minimize the complexities of airbags. One note is that I do use my head lamps adjustments that come on the Tacoma "adjustable headlights that can be adjusted using a dial located on the left side of the dashboard, near the aux switches. This allows the driver to raise or lower the headlight beams, which can be useful when towing or when the truck has a lift kit installed. " I hated driving at night until I found out this was on my truck... LOL> .....

I have the spacers on the front, 1 inch bottom, .5 top.. and I love the setup. I would not call it a ban aid solution. It works really well, even when rock crawling... works nicely also when off roading on dirt roads. Yeah the 817s will raise your rear no matter what, since they will act as a spacer lift. I think other coil brands may be better suited if you want a minimal lift but want to carry the extra weights. I wanted to carry the extra weight with additional lift, hence the 819s.

@elturco yeah, the Peak setup is a little different, I was more referencing small spacer kits that would raise the front end 3/4". Greenlane offroad makes a set similar to what I was suggesting.

You bet, it's a nice feature. And yes, I went down this road as I'm rolling with a constant 300lbs on the back. The 817 by specs, and accounts from others, should have been the ticket sitting in that 1.25"-1.5" rake range.

The bigger frustration's the fuel economy hit.
