Air bags are the way to go !
Air bags are definitely not the way to go if you are off-roading. They do not allow your vehicle the ability to flex. Air bags are meant for the road when driving a road with varying weights. NOT off-road. Your vehicle needs to be able to flex and torque when off-road, hence the purpose of a spring.

I have a lift in the back and cradles so my airbags are set up for offroading because they detach and allow for flex. They arent the ones that are solid with the bottom brackets. The solid mounts are not for offroading. I actually went offroading this weekend and ran the truck with no psi unloaded and the truck articulated very well !

Hey, newbie here, are you guys all running stock suspension and just adding Dobinson Springs?
Yep I’m stock shocks with Dobinsons 819V in rear and Alldogs in front with 930 constant extra load, it’s quite good. When doing tough rock crawling, there’s a little extra side to side sway, but otherwise it’s about perfect! When the shocks get older I’ll switch them, I’m just at 20k miles so far. I installed the Falcon 3.2 kit and Dobinson 819v springs with my GFC. About 1.5" of lift front and 3"-ish rear so it maintains a bit of rake and should handle camping/bike rack load ups for the summer really well I think. The ride quality is a massive upgrade over stock, really loving this kit!

This was an awesome thread. Thanks for all of the helpful information here guys. I read through this a couple times for info while I was considering my rear setup.

I carry a 400# ish Topo topper on a long bed and ultimately went with the Icon overland springs. With just the topper I'm close to 2" rear lift over stock and once loaded for weekends I'm right around .5" to .75" over stock. Ride is great either way.

Curious though, long term, how have all your shocks held up ? Especially curious about those of you who chose 2+" of rear lift without extended shocks. Even the Bilstein 5100/6100 recommends max rear lift of 1.5" so have wondered about exceeding that spec and what the implications are long term or on rough terrain.

Also a heads up: I got a MUCH smoother ride with extended end links and Bolt On Track Bar Correction Kit. Somewhat inexpensive to get a smooth ride back if you're having any issues there 👌
