Hey everyone 👋
I wanted to share something I learned after spending a lot of time wiring accessories on my 4th Gen Toyota Tacoma using the factory prewired AUX switches.

Toyota actually did a solid job giving us AUX 1–4 from the factory — but I realized pretty quickly that how you use each one matters, and it’s easy to wire things in a way that causes headaches later.

In this video, I break down everything I learned wiring all four AUX switches, including:

  • What AUX 1 (40A) should really be reserved for
  • Using AUX 2 for front pod/ditch lights and the little “hop” trick to get always on power where you need it
  • How to get power to the rear, since it’s not there by default
  • Running rock lights on AUX 3 and rear lights on AUX 4
  • Getting clean, fused interior power inside the dash for things like WeBoost or other electronics
  • Swapping the boring factory AUX buttons for custom switches (Sasquatch, Taco, rear light icons)

I also touch on something I’m still curious about and would love feedback on:
Some TRD Sport / TRD Off-Road trucks seem to have parts of the AUX wiring present without the physical buttons. Curious what others here have found behind the dash.

I'm dropping it here early for my 4g Taco Fam. It will go away briefly in the morning and be live in the afternoon.

If you’ve wired AUX switches on your 4th gen, drop what you’re running on each one — I think this could help a lot of new owners avoid mistakes.

The video says it’s private. Cannot watch it.

I have the 25 OR Premium (purchased end of Feb 25) with 3 aux switches and pigtails kit but no 4th switch preinstalled. No biggie for me as if I ever need it my guess is its wired in.

I repinned the factory engine area jumper cable to use AUX 3 for my rear bumper backup lights and pinned my own connector to be available for AUX 1 & 2. They work automatically with the factory backup lights, and manually if I push my AUX 3. Normally you would waste the higher power AUX 1 for the rear.
