Did the tune reduce the transmission “hang” during certain throttle inputs? Or is that just unavoidable with this high stall torque converter transmission?
I can't really speak on that with the hybrid as I haven't had it in too many different situations. I only drove it home from the dealer since I still have the rental for a month, which is a non hybrid.

I can't say I've noticed any "hang" when shifting. I do have a heavy foot though so its not uncommon for the truck to go through the entire gear before shifting when I drive.

Fair enough. Maybe a whiskey throttle solves the issue. 🤣

The tune does absolutely change the shift points though so that's a huge plus. Maybe that's why I haven't noticed it. I always recommend the tune. If you're unhappy with it you're always able to get refunded and put back to stock. No harm in trying it out.

Could you elaborate on your issues? Im considering the tune. Thanks.
The tune I received caused issues with boost cut, so it would throw a check engine light when I was at full boost and it would pull power right away. Very unnerving if you've never experienced it. I've had turbo cars in the past so I knew what it was right away. The OTT tuner tried to correct that several times. Couldn't get it to run right so I went back to stock. Some others had a similar issue if you search the forum. OTT may have eventually fixed it but I just decided for myself and the reliability of the truck that I go back to stock.

Did you also tune the BMW when you had it?
No, the process to tune those is a lot more expensive & a lot more involved.

I would have had to take my ECU & send it to FEMTO in Finland to remove the encryption on i ($1600-$1800 just for that alone.) Wait for it to get mailed back, then pay for the tune after that, which will range $800-1k depending how crazy I wanted to get.

I had got my Beamer with 7 miles on the dash in 2023 & with bmw when you take it in for service they can see ALL of that. So warranty would have been gone instantly.

With the way that Toyota works & the software that’s used to flash OTT, there aren’t any “traces” of a tune on the vehicle. Plus it can be put back to stock at any time which is a huge bonus for those worried about that.

Pricing for OTT on the 4GT is substantially cheaper as well.
