Me personally, I just use the OEM bed mat and any other scratches I don't really worry about because it is a truck after all. The bed will inevitably get scratched and dirty.
This guy gets it:thumbsup:

Large sheets of cardboard when needed. The rubber types and some mats are heavy. Some of the plastic types are too slippery. Beyond cheap and light, it can be nice for how it will also slide something and fold.

If you're looking for market ideas, I'm probably not like many regulars here but would be interested in the right light and inexpensive bed mat. My Tacoma is a long bed mostly used for my business (infrastructure support), trail building and ski area crew or outdoor sports aid. I'm also hesitant to have accessories or modifications that are too flashy or stand out.

Good luck.

To each their own. Me? I'd be embarrassed if my truck bed looked like I don't use it. Seriously! But you do you.

I do use a bed mat because the SMC bed is slippery. But it is also super durable and I have had them for years and never saw a need for more protection. Like @GMak621 said, it is a truck and a perfect bed makes it look like you bought the wrong vehicle.

I have a bed mat (OEM) - not to protect the bed but to lessen stuff sliding around.

Otherwise I do nothing - it's a truck bed. It won't rust, there's no paint to chip off, and the composite is pretty tough.

After nine years, my 3rd gen's bed shows signs of use. Which I'd expect on a truck.

Protect your paint and scratch the bed. It's a truck.

And besides, these beds don't scratch much, and the scratches don't show as much as they do on a painted metal bed.

The OEM mat is the best. Thick, heavy, and keeps things in place.

Either get the spray liner or mat. Or use the truck for the intended purpose and have scratches in the bed of it lol. It’s a truck. And for resale value, men buying trucks understand this and don’t get bent out of shape over scratches in the bed, so you’re good.

Like anything, you like to keep things as new and clean as possible. Until you get that first accidental scratch or gouge and then it’s no longer a virgin. I found that the OEM mat was inferior to the Lastfit mats, as it is a little thicker. Whatever, when it gets scratched up or gouged I’ll throw it away and buy a new one, it’s only 120 bucks. In the spring, I’m going to install a Decked drawer system, and then it won’t matter
