How important is the 14” screen?

Do you use Apple Carplay or Android Auto? If so, test drive both and connect your phone to test out how you would use them. I test drove trucks with both and since I was coming from a vehicle with an 8" screen, the 8" screen seemed fine to me. Ultimately I bought a premium package truck with the 14" screen and now that I'm used to the larger screen it feels very weird to drive my F150 with the smaller 8" screen.

I have two trucks I can buy. Both are new TRD OFF ROADS.
1. Truck has 14” screen as only option. I can vit it for 12% off MSRP, works out to $46.6k out the door with taxes and all
2. Has TRD Pro lift kit, Predator running boards, full paint protection film, tinted windows and floor mats but has the small 8” screen. It’s 22% off of MSRP, $47k OTD

the dealer is highly motivated to sell truck 2 and it is clearly a much better deal. All of thet stuff can be added later though, but the 14” screen can’t.
So now important is it?

Try them both, try the big screen in the dark, and get what best fits your needs.

I can offer this for now into my 3rd year of ownership. I've got no regrets purposely choosing smaller screen for finding the big one a bit of a distraction. I can't say enough on how the long bed has been so important, and that makes a better riding vehicle too. I'm off road up to several times a week doing trail building, river guiding and ski area crew. I've found no need for any lift and appreciate the road manners.

For me it is all a tool. For many here it is a hobby and even identity or image thing. If you delay gratification like we did, try a lot of stuff, you'll know what's most important and have what you need without second guess yourself.

I love the 14” screen in my 2026. My last truck was a 2024 Tacoma OR with 8 inch screen and I think it’s way too small. Even the RAV4 comes with a 10” screen which I think should be the standard screen for the Tacoma.

I love my 14" screen, but the ppf and tinting is way more important IMO. Predator steps, meh. I'd swap them out anyway.

Android Auto works perfectly with my Google Pixel 10 Pro. I've never had to re-pair the pair.

That said, I find the large display irritating and keep it turned off almost all of the time.

That's a tough one, although I hate the predator steps, but......I'm not short either, so it probably depends on if you need them or not. I didn't care about the 14" screen until I test drove one with it, then it made the smaller screen just look out of place, so it's the one thing I kinda wanted. It's definitely not a need, but I think I would go with option 1.

That and my hardcore 4x4 days are over, I'm good with the stock setup although I'll probably add KO3's at some point.

Use visor.vin and check around for more options, I ended up with a TRD Off Road in the $43k range OTD ($1100 TTL) with a TSRP of $48k, add-ons were ToyoGuard (hard to find one in SE Toyota without), 14" screen, bedliner, rear step, which actually is useful, and LED logo.

I wanted less crap, but.......it worked out at the end of the November with a $6k discount.

I have the 14" screen. I think it's great for viewing the cameras for parking lots. The edges of this truck are really hard for me to judge, so seeing the cameras on a big screen really helps.

The 14" screen really should have more capability to split the display and choose what's shown than it does. Toyota skimped on that software capability. But overall it's a nice to have option.

I paid $54,000 for my 14-inch screen and love it to death. My 2nd and 3rd gen Tacos had the small screen and i had to throw on my reading glasses every time i needed the screen. Imagine flying down the interstate at 90 mph reaching for some reading glasses. My 14-inch screen is so much more easier to see for my old age. Go with the premium package

I really don't like big screens in vehicles. I've had them and I find them distracting and unnecessary, but it's personal preference. Lots of people like them these days. I like my 8" screen a lot. Only complaint is that it could be smaller lol
I test drove both the OR and SR5 and one of the many reasons I bought the SR5 is because I didn't want all that extra fluff.

I normally don't like a lot of technology stuff in my vehicles, and usually would be happy with no screen at all. It would take more than PFF to protect my truck though if I had to park it without cameras and a big ol' screen to show me how close I'm getting.
