So 26 December driving south from Buffalo to Virginia I got caught in an intense Ice storm in Pa. 25F and heavy rain, freezing on impact. Growing up in Western NY it was no big deal except the truck did not seem happy at all. 2024 Off Road. The traction and control systems were all fine but the safety tronics were CRAZY. Once the front of the truck got covered in ice I had 6 cautions lights from systems that were failed dues to the sensors being blind. The Ice build up was substantial. I had to stop every 45 minutes or so and break the ice off the Wipers as they were freezing up and not clearing the windshield. But my real issue was all the flashing warnings about the systems. I disabled what I could. Driving was a bit intense and the added distraction was not welcome. Anyone else had problems like this?

Yep, even a little bit of snow will cause the dash to light up annoyingly. I really wish that there was a way to disable with a single button. I Just turn everything off when it snows.

We had freezing rain yesterday and similar experience with Safety systems. This is an issue everytime there is snow, ice, rain. I wish engineers would figure out a way for the driver to acknowledge and then ignore because you can't change the weather.
I hear similar complaints from drivers of other brands this is not a Toyota only issue but I had hoped for better.

I have experienced the same in my Trailhunter in mountains of TN.. Snow and icy rain triggered the sensors.. Not sure if Toyota realizes the legal predicament they are causing by distracting drivers.

This is spot on, the biggest gripe i have, honestly why cant the toyota engineers, create the sensors to be corrected like the side mirrors, push button the mirrors warm up , this would be a plus on the damn sensors

I haven't experienced it so much with my truck, but my wife's brand new Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness lights up loke a Christmas tree when the eyesight is disabled.

Yes, this is why I try to buy a truck with minimal electronic doo-dads, but it is getting harder. In my career I’ve driven a lot in mountainous highways and during winter. Thankfully I did it in pre 2013 trucks. By the time I got my newest truck, my 2024 Tacoma my road trip days are largely over.
You want comfort and reliability and no nanny sensors going off due to ice or snow, can’t beat a nice GMT400 series - Yukon or Tahoe is best.

The first time I heard this complaint was over 15 years ago. None of the camera or radar safety systems from any car maker work in icy conditions. Sometimes you just have to ignore that stuff and drive the old fashioned way. I wish there was some way to tell the truck that, so it would shut up and leave me alone.

I’m gonna literally apply 50/50 mix of these two right down the middle of the front radar sensor next storm chase. If I was to put money in it the Teflon stuff will probably perform the best. We shall see…

If you’re in Canada where the trees are plastered in rime ice feel free to laugh at this. It won’t stop me from my 7th grade science experiment. How dare you
