hi,
are any of you experiencing poor mpg?

l am around 14-15mpg… l haven’t done any mods that l would think increases my consumption… upgraded to MT 265 coming from the HW 245 that the truck comes with…
and also added running boards that weight maybe 15kg each side

i am really not pushing or driving hard and l can’t seem to increase it

Oversized aggressive tread will drop it. Combined with aggressive city driving, your mileage is plausible. I lost a mpg or 2 when I went from the stock SR5 wheels and tires to stock sport wheels and tires.

What was your mileage before the tire change? Is your SR5 4wd? My 2wd SR5 with stock tires gets 26-27 combined. I've been looking at getting aftermarket wheels and going with 265 tires.

First is wondering if you are truly at break in 3000-5000 miles. There are lots of threads and posts here and another Tacoma forum where some details might be insightful, but in general people are in or can beat the EPA ratings with reasonable driving, and high speed kills the efficiency just like short urban trips and not being a smooth driver.

The bigger wheels and tires combo a TRD OR comes with don't stop it from achieving the EPA ratings.

TH. Current overall average is at 16.4mpg. 4800 miles. Two weeks after purchase, we took a 1800 mile round trip... averaged 16.8 on that, almost all highway driving. Pretty terrible.

yea that is very bad never owned a 3rd gen cause l just don’t like the design and the gear hunt but l think this gets worse mpg than the 3rd gen which is odd thinking of course of all the engineering behind this 4g .. on paper will make sense since it’s a smaller engine carrying a big body… but again same HP and even more torque

my intention is not to use sport it’s eco
Intent? Or are you experiencing low MPG with the Commander while in Eco? Complaints about PCs reducing mileage are common on Reddit.

I upgraded to ten-ply tires, but kept them the same size, and I still get 23-24 MPG with highway driving. But I drive like an old man.

I suspect I could drive your truck–with the Commander removed, and stock tires on my highways– and still get 23-24.
