I get it’s your truck do what you want, but some people are going a little too far..
They should have bought a jeep. There is some great FB groups that make fun of them for this exact reason.

For me-
-Red accents on everything.. I saw one guy that put red seat covers on, then red trim pieces on everything in the entire interior. Even a early nineties Corvette didn’t have that much red..
- I saw a black SR5 in traffic (Miami) the other day. It had red trim around every door edge and a solid red decal that extended the entire rocker panel.

I find the FB groups are a great resource for what not to do to your truck.
What mods make you cringe?

Too many to name but here are a few. Light bars that are on all the time. They are illegal to run on public roads and can blind oncoming traffic at night. Large wheel spacers and extreme offset wheels (skateboard) look ridiculous and cause poor handling and excessive tire and suspension component wear. Cheap vinyl bed covers that move/flap around in the wind.

Aftermarket exhaust because there is no way to make a 4cyl sound good and they just amplify the fart can. The god awful bed racks like the one that comes on the trailhunter for that 2008 Avalanche look. Fang lights from Amazon cause your not 18 anymore. Smoked headlights or tail lights because why would you want to cut light output and visability by putting "sun glasses" on your lights.

Outa curiosity, what’s the issue with nytop? I’ve seen their stuff here and there, it’s expensive AF, but their titanium axle dump exhaust looked interesting.
I was going to get just a cheaper stainless version because Ti that you can’t see is meh for the $.
But what’s the deal?

for me, I really don’t like stickers everywhere, rubber band tires, or the stupid lights everywhere (not legit ditch lights or off-road lights if done tastefully and not used on paved roads). I’m talking about the damn mall crawlers with accent lights under the body, etc. Dumb af. Also loud exhausts (on anything). Exhaust can sound good, but not make your ears bleed.

Anything that negatively affects performance or capability without any other benefit. Squatting or excessive poke. I’m also not a fan of up badging or putting performance stickers for things that aren’t actually installed. Otherwise it’s just personal preference. I don’t care for trucks or cars that look like they just selected all and added to cart with no theme or purpose.

LOL, love this topic.

The overland tent guy running errands on a Tuesday. Never understood leaving one of those giant eyesores on the truck roof all summer long.
lol I almost commented the same thing. There's a guy in my neighborhood that has a 3rd gen with one of those and who knows how many more hundreds of pounds of oVeRLaNdiNg bullshit tacked all over it. I pass him on the highway every morning commuting to work. I just always laugh at how much I bet that thing sucks to drive on windy days and the awful fuel mileage he's likely getting.

But yeah, to each their own. If that's what folks are into, then who am I to yuck their yum? I personally just kinda dislike the majority of mods for the 4th gens. A lot of what is out there are highly subjective cosmetic mods and a lot of the functional stuff just doesn't have any place in my day-to-day driving/use. I just prefer the truck in its stock form for the most part.

Biggest offenders to me personally are fang lights, ridiculous size/offset wheels & tires, and leveling kits.

Not that it's directly a mod, but all of the generic Chinese companies that make the same products and advertise them as some revolutionary new product (there's quite a few that advertise here) or they just act as a middle man and ship you products from a different company with their logo on it.

your $$$, your vehicle, your way...

However, confusing an "add on" for a "mod" :headbang:

Is "adding on" not "modifying"? You're altering the default/factory state, thus modifying.
