2024 Tacoma off road hybrid, got the tune a couple weeks back and have loved it so far. Yesterday I rolled into it in 2nd gear from low RPM's , saw boost spike over 20PSI and felt the revs climb but the transmission slipped really bad. I let out and looked if my truck was on the recall list for trans issues which it wasnt. Should I remove the tune to avoid any issues? Or has anyone seen any trans mods that can help with the torque spike?

I would ask your tuner. I've been tuned by CAM for over 33k miles now, no issues at all. send a log to your tuner and see if there's anything abnormal

Just because your truck isn't on the recall list doesn't mean it isn't covered btw. Just do not tell your dealer its tuned and if you can, have it removed before you take it in.

I don’t know why you would need to remove the tune for this issue. If it continues then they will be able to drive and feel it.

Toyota designed and then sold the truck built to a certain specification, with an expected, warrantied service life. The installation of a tune changes the specification. The engine and drivetrain are operating in ways Toyota didn't necessarily anticipate. And didn't design for.

Depending on what's wrong, the dealer and relationship with that dealer, tunes can be a problem. The warranty does not cover, "...alteration or tampering...", or use of parts, "not equivalent...in design..."

If the tune is confirmed and the dealer is considering a warranty claim, they now have an out. If the Engine Control Unit/Transmission Control Module is re-flashed back to stock, the dealer could notice things like the key count, when the unit was last re-flashed and ask about that. The key count counts the number of times the truck has been started since a ECU re-flash. Driving up with a count of two or three (versus tens to hundreds or more) indicates recent changes to that software.

With the information provided thus far, I wouldn't change anything just yet. As others have mentioned, send whatever is possible to the tuner for a review. This happened once. It could happen again. Or not. The tuner might offer some feedback which can help make a decision.

If the tuner advises things with their tune are OK but the problem continues, the OP can then re-flash, return to the dealer and see what happens there.

Best Wishes to the OP and whatever comes about.

Like 5 minutes after I made the post my tuner reached out wanting to datalog. So for the meantime im just using eco mode to keep the torque low. Just a bummer that it seems the transmission was designed to hold facory torque and no more. Someone make an 8HP swap kit and ill be the first to buy it. And I didnt make the thread to down talk OTT, the tune was the single best mod I have done. Just making me suspicious of the circumstances of how I bought the truck. It was a 2024 with 800 miles , toyota gold certified that I purchased last November from the dealer. I pulled the services history and truck was never part of the trans recall. It had every option that I wouldve picked on new truck minus the color and was 10k cheaper vs new.

You sure the transmission was slipping? It's well known some of these trucks, more so on the hybrid, that the engine lugs a little bit at low rpms (roughly under 1500 rpms). It will feel like a vibration, torque converter shudder, or running over some rumble strips. I also had an issue with an earlier OTT tune that cause the truck to bog at low rpms and shoot out black smoke. It was a bad/incorrect tune. you could have also tried to drive in sport mode only and see if the problem cures itself. If it does, it's probably the engine lugging. My truck did that and it was bad on the stock oem calibration. I ended up working with CAMTuning and we fixed it by changing the shift points of every gear to avoid dipping blow 1500 rpms between shifts. Truck drives super smooth now with no vibrations or lugging. I also just got the latest revision to fix the 1st/2nd gear hard shift and it has worked extremely well. I cannot feel any hard 1/2 shifts on cold starts at all now.
