This is why you sell your OEM tires asap and buy you some decent rubber for your truck. I do this with most of my common average cars since the manufacturers only install the cheap throw away tires.
This.
I thought that was the dumbest thing people did, getting rid of tires right off the bat. That was until I verified that Toyota puts tires on your 50k+ dollar vehicle with diminished tread. This is the type of nickel and dime bs that burns my tailpipe. I'm selling my stock Falken's before they hit 1k.

Anyone else have a similar experience?
I am having to replace my tires before winter hits here in CO but have only had the truck 11 months and just hitting the 10k mark. I went in for the 10k service and they checked the tread on my tires. 4/32 (front) 5/32 (rear). I could run them until the "legal" limit of 2/32 but living in CO and going into or through the mountains regularly, not my best decision to run almost no tread tires. I just think it is CRAZY that they are that low in such a short amount of time/distance. Has anyone else seen this, or heard of this??
Common issue with Falken, they're great but every set I've owned wears like they're made of chewing gum... I've never understood why people talk them up so much, every set I've used over the years has been garbage and never lasted more than 18K. Only thing I can say id I've always been able to to get Discount/America's Tires to warranty them (to another brand)...

Not to be contrarian, but I have the wildpeaks on my '19 Jeep and they're wearing beautifully. Rain or shine, they perform better than expected and the tread life has been amazing. All I've done is rotate and keep the pressures good.

It is not a common issue.
Falken at3 and at4 are warrantied to 55,000 and 65,000 miles.

The OP is talking about factory Falken tires which has significantly lesser tread life on them.

DIDO... Got my 2024 Taco in June 2025 and now at 14,000 the factory tires are looking unsafe for winter in Colorado. [ WILDPEAK A/T 265/60R20 ]

Factory branded Falken wildpeak tires are meant to be thrown away asap with a very short tread life. This is how Toyota and other car manufacturers save on costs.

The BFG Trail Terrains on the TRD trucks (which I have on my SR steelies) are also not 3 peak rated like the model you can purchase on TireRack. I'm down to 7/32 in most spots after about 10,000 miles. Early next year I will replace them.

They seem to be wearing pretty fast, checks out for OE tires. Still better than tossing them though imo, just run them down and swap them out. You'll still get like 10,000 miles out of them minimum.

In my case, I purchased new wheels and new AT4W all terrain tires for $2600 and sold the OE tires and wheels for $1200 to someone who wanted TRD off-road wheels and OE tires to upgrade from their SR wheels.

OEM tires being different and "worse" than aftermarket tires is nothing new... It's been happening for many years. And they aren't "cheaper" at all, they are very specifically engineered for NVH and MPG optimization. And that comes at the expense of lifespan.

The aftermarket Falken tires I've ran have all been awesome. I'll keep running them because the AT4W is one of the best tires on the market, and the perfect size/load rating for my Taco.

And I won't run BFGs (size issues, rubber compound issues) or Toyos (serious rubber compound issues).
